Are card shops missing a trick?

Every year i grump to myself about this and want to know if i'm alone in being annoyed about it.

Why don't card shops sell age and relation cards? e.g To my daughter on your 18th, To my Dad on your 60th Birthday etc etc.

I know you can get them online and i have found one or two in the odd card shop but considering you can buy various 'To my Cat at Christmas ' (something i cant imagine there is a huge market for) is it not a bit odd that they dont sell them in shops?

Surely there would be a market for it?

Anyway, im glad iv got that off my chest Grin

I got my dad's 60th card from Clinton's. Admittedly there wasn't a great deal of choice, but there were quite a few relation/ages cards!

WH Smith has loads...

But wouldn't it merely move your specific preference up a notch?

"Yes, I know it says 'To Daughter on her 4th Birthday' but I wanted ' To Our Daughter...' "

"Yes, I know it has the writing I wanted, but it has rabbits on and I wanted puppies."

"Yes, it has puppies on, but I wanted Golden Labrador puppies."

"Yes it has the picture and writing I wanted, but it just says 'Have a wonderful day' inside and I wanted a rhyme..."

I was looking the other day for a 4th birthday card for DD , I got one that has stickers inside and you put the correct words and number in to personalise it .

So it says " To a .........( lovely/special/beautiful etc) daughter who's ....... ( age)

I thought that was quite a clever idea . Smile

Where do you live OP? Our Clinton's, card factory, WHSmith, Asda and Sainsbury's all sell these cards. Clinton's noticeably replaces several stands with seasonal stuff but throughout summer all are available.

Clinton's do them but not many. I wanted a to my son on your 1st and found one in one of those random shops that sells everything.

I sell Flamingo Paperie (used to be Phoenix Trading), we don't do this either, purely due to the amount of very similar varieties it would need, eg. For my Nan on her 80th Birthday, For my Nanna on her 80th Birthday, For my Nanny on her 80th Birthday, For my Grandma on her 80th Birthday ..... Then add in that customers would like a choice of picture (my Nan doesn't like floral cards / animal cards etc ... it just becomes too many options to make it feasible.
