Boob Mouse Mat 13 year old DS

I received an Amazon delivery today.

My 13 year old ds has bought himself a mouse mat with an anime cartoon female and it has a padded wrist rest which is a raised/padded pair of boobs, they are covered.

I think it's innapropriate or is it harmless teenage fun & I'm being harsh?

I'd be surprised but it wouldn't bother me.

Doesnt anyone else think that that its massively sexualised? It looks like the anime is laying down on a bed, flustered/scared expression on her face and presumably with someone over her, so having sex/raped?
Theres a massive amount of Japanese anime where the girl figures are taken advantage off/raped, it's so disturbing 😨 I wouldn't allow my stepsons to get something like that

It's an anime / manga image- is he into manga or gaming? A lot of that "world" is full of imagery of fetishised school girls with big eyes, teeny skirts and big boobs. There are porn manga comics along those lines, and the females are always fetishised very young, school girl types. It's fairly accepted in Japan unfortunately. A lot of the gaming characters are depicted in that way too. I'd be wanting to know how into that stuff he is, and yes, having conversations about imagery and the male gaze. Does he have a male role model who can also have such a conversation with him?

Ultimately, if you don't like it... Well it's your house, your money and your rules so it gets sent back if you say so, whether other people think it's harmless fun or not.
No, it probably won't turn him into a raving misogynist but I doubt his quality of life is going to be especially diminished in the absence of the boob mat.

Eeugh!! No way would that be allowed in my house, it’s just horrible. Have a serious chat with him about exactly why this is not “just a bit of fun”.
I have a nearly 12 year old boy, and although he’s quite young and naive for his age, I know these sorts of conversations have to start taking place soon.

he ordered without asking so he certainly won't be getting it and its awful so even if asked could he order one he wouldn't be using it an would be told to choose another.

My sons are much older than that now. I wouldn't take it off him, but I would give him a few lectures about objectification of women. I would try to keep a sense of humour though, he's only young and still learning

Seems I was wrong in my mousemat analogy, AND I had to put ‘penis mousemat’ into google so that’s my personalised adds corrupted for the next week or so.

I’ve not had any experience of anime manga porn, nor did I know it existed, so if it is of a cartoon ‘Pornstar’ character then that does admittedly change my opinion! The last time I saw similar characters was in Pokemon on the game boy so I must be hugely out of touch

On a serious note, it was quite hard for me to find a mousemat with penises (or even just one penis on), I had to specifically search for it, so for him to find “Japanese porn girl with boob wrist rest” I would be wondering what he googled to find it!?

That's terrible OP. Id be sending that piece of offensive tat right back. Sends the wrong message entirely. Look at the girl's expression on the mouse mat. She looks totally like a porno cartoon with the idea of your son resting his wrist on her breasts. Not funny at all. I'd also be having a strong talk about how wrong it is to objectify women.
And I totally agree with @IJustWantSomeBees. Would those saying it's ok be happy with their teen daughter fondling a pretend erection on a mouse mat?

I have teen daughter and, at the moment, a sweet and innocent, pre pubescent DS. I teach many teenage boys, an alarming number of whom are not on message about respecting women. It goes back and explain why. He will almost certainly be exposed to far worse objectification of women in his social circle. You are mum and what you tolerate and don’t tolerate counts for an awful lot. You have are working against a tide of porn and popular culture.

As can be seen by some of the minimising on this thread it's not hard to understand why. Apples not falling far from trees etc.

Oddly at my school it's mainly girls who are into manga and anime, but we've had some interesting debates as to why the artists go for the little girl wide-eyed faces, the school uniforms and the pneumatic body parts.
