Why is there Friends merchandise EVERYWHERE?

Seriously, every website that I'm looking for xmas gifts on seems to be full of Friends merchandise!

Why?

Didn't Friends finish in 2004? And wasn't it pants by the end anyway?

Who is buying this stuff? Or are retailers hoping that we will just buy it for each other?

@sparklingbrook 😱 not you as well!

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 30/11/2020 14:48

My 10 year old loves it and is very offended by Ross and his terrible behaviour. She thinks he's the worst father ever too Grin

ExpensivelyDecorated · 30/11/2020 14:53

It was pants from the start, I used to yawn my way through DH watching it, thankfully my DCs haven't discovered it.

My ten year old ds really likes it, although he wouldn't want merchandise.

My 14yr old sister loves it and also really like the merchandise, I got her cushion and duvet cover last year and it went down well.

F.R.I.E.N.D.S will never die!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Awesome start to finish.

lakesidewinter · 30/11/2020 15:34

My dd loves it, it is a current craze at her school.

What's in a friends recipe book?

Trifle with meat in it?

LadyCatStark · 30/11/2020 17:14

It’s on TV practically all the time and it’s on Netflix. People who enjoyed it the first time round now have children who are getting in to it so they encourage it and are more likely to buy the merchandise for nostaligia’s sake.

Sparklingbrook · 30/11/2020 18:17

Yes, it's always on one of the Sky channels. I watched a bit the other day I don't even remember the episode from the first time around but it was not great. Confused

They announced filming again. It was all just before lockdown.

I am sure they are making a film. They’ve all finally agreed.

Holothane · 30/11/2020 18:47

Not my thing never was, just wasn’t interested but even I’ve wondered what’s with all the stuff everywhere.

NotDesmondsBoat · 30/11/2020 18:51

I bought my son some friends merch today.
He's really into it. Also How I met your mother, big bang theory. It's all the rage

COVIDcausesCHAOS · 01/12/2020 18:23

Even if it is having a revival, hasn't it aged pretty badly?

I'm surprised the woke crowd aren't trying to get it cancelled!

They are filming some more? That sounds like a huge mistake.

TiersOfAClown · 01/12/2020 18:27

Because the 90s are BACK, baby!

I'm old enough to be retro. Heaven help me.

COVIDcausesCHAOS · 02/12/2020 20:00

Oh what, they're making more? No thanks.

The Netflix thing opened it up to a whole new generation, my 10 yr old niece has asked for Friends PJs for Christmas.

I rewatched the whole series while on maternity a couple of years back, I agree it hasn't aged particularly well. I do still like the older ones though, when Jean Claude Van Damme was in it and the baby on the bus time.

chasegirl · 02/12/2020 21:12

My 12 year old Dd and all her friends love it. Watched every episode several times. They quote it a lot Hmm
