Weighted blanket for an adult?

Looking for a weighted blanket for an adult, to help with sleep and anxiety. Any suggestions? Looking for a decent one, not bargain but I’ve no idea where to start. For weight/size/warmth etc?

They wouldn't work for two people, they need to drape round you really.

If you both want one you'd need two.

They don't conform to single or double sizes, mine is somewhere between the two.

I got one from Remy Sleep - great weight and nice dark blue velvety cover. I love it and it's very nice to sleep under. The weight takes a little getting used to but it's good.

I've just ordered the kuddly one on offer.

The washable feature and it weighs below my washing machine weight limit seemed good.

I'm hoping it helps with my anxiety they're not dispatching ones bought on offer til 17th Dec though.

M&S does one with a removable cover, and quite reasonably priced (c.£75). It's about 5.5kg which seems an odd weight, but is happily just over 10% of what I weigh. Also comes in a handy bag.

I think for DH I need the ones around 9kg for the 10% for it to work. I will look at all the links thanks!

I've got a koala - love it, such good quality

@TurquoiseDragon where did you get yours from?

Wondering if there’s a thinner/cooler one that you can use over the top of an existing duvet cover? So all the weight but not as warm?

I got this one, amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07Y4P2T9Y/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1]] as it was in budget, right weight, size was okay for me, and it wasn't a dull colour (ok, this was just a bonus). (Note, I previewed this before posting, and for some reason I can't get the link formatted properly, it should still work, though.)

I have had better sleep since I've used it, and while it feels quite cool when I first get into bed, I warm up quickly and it feels cosy.

I've just ordered this, the blanket is 7KG although they sell heavier separately. Not arrived yet but the return system seems ok.

SeaSunMoon · 04/12/2020 19:32

Thanks @goalpostmover
Are you planning to stick it in your normal washing machine?
I’m now wondering if a washable one is better than fighting with a cover on a non washable one.

goalpostmover · 04/12/2020 19:45

@SeaSunMoon it does say they are machine washable so yes. My plan is to use as a sofa blanket rather than sleeping under it in bed so perhaps won't need washing as much.

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 04/12/2020 19:49

Gravity blanket with the "summer" cover. One side is cotton one is fleecy type stuff. Cover is washable and its the same size as as single duvet so easy to get more covers without paying a fortune.
It should be 10% of the users bodyweight and works best if not shared (so the big double ones are a bit pointless).

wowfudge · 04/12/2020 20:28

Very do one under £50 iirc.

SeaSunMoon · 04/12/2020 23:12

I think I’m veering back towards the single ones, and then I guess the slightly lighter weight doesn’t matter. And washable seems good if it’s going to sit above a duvet in bed or be used on the sofa.
