Who else is missing live music?

And who is the best live act you've seen? Mine was oasis, the last gig they did. They're nowhere near my favourite band, but they were fantastic!

I used to go to gigs loads when I was younger then when I had kids I sort of lost that part of myself. There was always something more important to spend the money on. Then about a year ago I realised that if we could afford dh's season ticket then we could certainly afford one gig a month for me so I made the resolution that I'd try and get out to see a band each month. It was going really well up until March!

chomalungma · 28/11/2020 10:00

I had just started developing a social life - the Meet Up group I was in went to a lot of gigs in local pubs.

I really miss that - and am so looking forward to going again.

Best concert was Queen tribute concert.

Best 'gig' was the Levellers - small venue and lots of enthusiastic dancing.

BearSoFair · 28/11/2020 10:40

So much! My last gig was also Frank Turner like chew but a couple of weeks earlier, 6th of March. Best gig probably Biffy Clyro at the O2 in 2013.

SuperbGorgonzola · 28/11/2020 11:15

Best gig ever was Tom Odell in 2016 at Glasgow. I was expecting it to be quite a chilled gig but it was absolutely amazing. He has such a great energy.

Maximo Park are fantastic live as well. Saw them at a local festival and had a great time.

Was lucky enough to see The Prodigy a few years ago at Ushuaia in Ibiza. DH's favourite band of all time and they were great. The whole line up was really good, Sigma and Pendulum did sets as well. The atmosphere there was so lovely, dancing in the sunshine and ending up under the stars.

Fuck Covid!

My DH is - he's a professional musician and he's practically climbing the walls with frustration. They can't even find anywhere open to rehearse at the moment.

bigsmokeatchristmas · 28/11/2020 11:32

I missed Nick Cave this year. Gutted, would have been first time seeing him.

Best gig probably Flaming Lips at Hammersmith.

thesunwillout · 28/11/2020 15:54

@bigsmokeatchristmas

I saw him couple years ago, one of the best gigs I've ever experienced.
Has it been postponed, will you still hopefully get to go?

BobbinThreadbare123 · 28/11/2020 15:57

Last gig I saw was The Sweet, last Dec. Had a few booked this year eg Faith No More but they all got cancelled. Best gig ever is any time I've been to see Rammstein.

Chewwithyourfuckingmouthclosed · 28/11/2020 17:20

Ooh Rammstein are one of my last bucket list bands!

bigsmokeatchristmas · 28/11/2020 17:23

@thesunwillout it was postponed, I think to spring this year, I guess it might be postponed again. I am really looking forward to it. I only discovered his music in recent years.

slavetothenhs · 28/11/2020 17:26

Oh me me me! I saw Bloc Party in Bristol last summer, one of the best gigs I've been to, and have bought tickets to see Nothing But Thieves next October and am praying it doesn't get cancelled, would love a night out watching a band and dancing right now 😭

daisydalrymple · 29/11/2020 00:53

standardlampski I don’t know the struts, but I’ll give them a listen now thanks 🤘😍

GarethSouthgatesWaistcoat · 29/11/2020 00:58

In the interim I'm enjoying lots of music documentaries on BBC4 (Friday night) and Sky Arts channel 11 (Freeview).

Learning about acts I knew little about Smile

OutComeTheWolves · 05/12/2020 08:52

Has anyone bought any tickets for next year yet? I've just bought pixies tickets for August. I'm going to try not to get my hopes up too much but hopefully things should be going ahead by then. 🤞🤞
I've asked dh for seagirls tickets for Christmas too.

Zenithbear · 05/12/2020 09:03

Me
Luckily I have seen lots of amazing bands over the years-
AC/DC
Whitesnake
Iron maiden
Killers
Thunder
Etc etc

insancerre · 05/12/2020 09:56

@OutComeTheWolves
I’ve bought tickets for pearl jam with the pixies at Hyde park again- after I was refunded for this year
Really hope I can go this time

FutureDays · 05/12/2020 10:57

Favourites that I've seen would have to be pearl jam, flaming lips & the levellers, I luckily saw levellers earlier this year, I almost didn't go as my town had some flooding and was worried about getting home.
I had tickets for Pearl jam so have got one for next year, my other levellers gig has been rescheduled for next year, and we rolled over our beautiful days tickets to next year.
Next year is going to be good I hope

ageingdisgracefully · 05/12/2020 11:06

I was due to see George Benson last year - cancelled due to Covid.

I love music and really missing it live.
I've seen loads of bands live, including Stones and Oasis. First live band was Bay City Rollers. Blush.

Best live act I've seen is the Saw Doctors. They're fab live, if not particularly well known.

Ooh that would be an amazing gig. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

MendingWalls · 05/12/2020 11:15

Saw Queen and Adam Lambert in Vegas last year. Adam Lambert’s charisma was off the scale.
Best I’ve seen was Prince (but I might be biased because I love him).

Lemonysherbet · 05/12/2020 11:20

Me! I've got a 6 month old baby and my husband bought him the little ear sound defenders pre pandemic and birth. Will he ever get to wear them? Can't wait to take him to see live music next summer!

FippertyGibbett · 05/12/2020 11:23

My fave band was due to tour the UK next year but I guess they’ll have to play this years gigs first.
I’m desperate to put my leather pants on and sing at the top of my voice !

LindaEllen · 05/12/2020 11:27

I'm missing live music because I'm in a band and we usually do upwards of 30 performances a year.

2020 has been very, very quiet. :(

NewYorkIvy · 05/12/2020 16:46

Desperately. I had 18 gigs booked for 2020 when lockdown started (and would usually book more throughout the year), very much hoping that 2021 will allow live music to return - I think this is the longest I've been without going to a gig since I turned 18.

salsmum · 05/12/2020 21:03

My son is in the entertainment business and trust me they are missing performing too.... so much attention about pubs during lockdown but hardly any about live entertainment sadly.
