One for the theme

I'll buy you first good wine
We'll have a real good time

70's

Honeyroar · 24/11/2020 23:39

It’s only right that you should
Play the way you feel it
But listen carefully to the sound
Of your loneliness

(The last few ive posted are for the theme)

Bluesheep8 · 25/11/2020 05:51

@honeyroar

Whenever I’m alone with you
You make me feel like I am fun again

That's Love Song by The Cure

Honeyroar, I think that's Fleetwood Mac, dreams?? I know the title doesn't relate to the lyrics

This is Fool if you think it's over
Done by Elkie Brooks and Chris Rea
I don't know which was the original

Fleamaker123 · 25/11/2020 10:12

Yes Shiny, it was Chris Rea who did the original but my vote goes to Elkie Brookes, I love her voice

Honeyroar · 25/11/2020 12:01

Yes @Bluesheep8 it was Lovesong covered by Adele and various others. I surprised myself that I actually really liked Adele’s version. She said she’d been taken to Cure concerts as a child (lucky thing!).

And yes @Fleamaker123 it was Dreams. Copied by the Corrs.

Bluesheep8 · 25/11/2020 13:12

@honeyroar - it's one of my favourite songs by The Cure. Albeit tainted now by even the thought of Adele covering it (I didn't know she had as I tend to steer well clear) - I cannot stand her! Confused

Bluesheep8 · 25/11/2020 13:14

Bit yes, lucky her to see them - I saw them as a teenager Grin

FlouncerInDenial · 25/11/2020 18:13

@NeedToKnow101

All the crimes committed in day by day No one try to stop it, in anyway

70s. Original and cover.

I like a bit of punk @FlouncerInDenial but I was only 7 in 1977 so was just a mini-punk really.

Me too. We are the same age, needtoknow. 1970?

I got into punk later/retrospectively

I know this song, but don't know the title. Is it called guns and ammunition? I had it on a mixed tape a friend made for me.

The version I know is ska, female singer.
Don't know any other versions

midgebabe · 25/11/2020 18:18

Guns and ammunition makes me think of the clash

FlouncerInDenial · 25/11/2020 18:29

These are for @Bluesheep8.
Apologies to the rest of you, but it's very exciting for me to have a fellow punk fan finally here.

Anyone can guess, obvs. But you lot won't know the covers. Bluesheep might

When logic and proportion have fallen sloppy dead
And the white knight is talking backwards

60s covered in 1980

Going faster miles an hour
Gonna drive past stop n shop
With the radio on
60s covered 70s

And not a cover, or I don't think it is, but the same song title as a song mentioned a few posts ago and it's given me an ear worm...

I'll be the mail, you be the guard
I'll be the ink on your season ticket card
I'll be the rubbish, you'll be the bin
Ill be the paint on the sign if you'll be the tin
70s

FlouncerInDenial · 25/11/2020 18:32

@midgebabe

Guns and ammunition makes me think of the clash
The lyrics go something like Police and peace (peas???? Mps???*) In the streets (oh yeah) Fighting the nation With their guns and ammunition
  • ah... the days of listening to records and trying to decipher the lyrics!
FlouncerInDenial · 25/11/2020 18:33

I have some other covers to put up later when I get to a computer. Less punky!

FlouncerInDenial · 25/11/2020 18:34

Ooo. You'll all know this one:

Look around
60s, covered brilliantly in the 80s. Like both versions, prefer the cover

NeedToKnow101 · 25/11/2020 19:30

"Me too. We are the same age, needtoknow. 1970? "

Yes @FlouncerInDenial - would be funny if we knew each other in the real world 😂

FlouncerInDenial · 25/11/2020 19:36

I think you'd know if we did, needtoknow. I'm very distinctive.

Also, I don't know about you, but I don't know everyone in the uk who is my age.
Do you?

FlouncerInDenial · 25/11/2020 19:38

Which of us is older. Lockdown 50th birthday?

Even though you were distinctive, how would I know it was you?

😂😂😂 no I don't.
But my friend's wife interviewed Maradonna.

NeedToKnow101 · 25/11/2020 19:45

@FlouncerInDenial and @midgebabe it's Police and Thieves, famously covered by the Clash.

The original was by Junior Murvin. He sung in a falsetto so maybe you thought he was a lady, Flouncer. 🤪

NeedToKnow101 · 25/11/2020 19:45

@FlouncerInDenial

Mine was pre-lockdown.
midgebabe · 25/11/2020 19:46

Well I never knew it was a cover . Only know the clash version

And at least we now know that peas are thieves
