Wisdom tooth pain ๐Ÿ˜”

I have a partially erupted top wisdom tooth that play up every few years.

Itโ€™s playing up and itโ€™s so painful :( I had antibiotics as the gum around it so sore and swollen. But I canโ€™t seem to open my jaw very wide. Itโ€™s clicking slightly and just feels stiff. Is this normal?

Dentist wonโ€™t take it out. I had my bottom two out years ago :(

What else can I take?

Is it normal for my teeth to hurt? Like top and bottom that side?

If it's pidhinh on them it might. Or infection. Plus all those nerves are connected

I hope you get them out soon

I was doing salt water 4x a day to stop it getting infected.

I had mine out under sedation as it was hard to remove I had to wait a few months though back in 2016.

Thedarksideofthemoon30 · 03/12/2020 15:49

Iv been referred. Itโ€™s a 4 week wait and they wonโ€™t put me to sleep or give me sedation. The sedation is ยฃ300 and I canโ€™t afford that.

Iโ€™m absolutely pooing myself.

I've had all 4 out with no sedation.
Maybe ask GP for valium?

@Thedarksideofthemoon30 sounds awful. Are they the top ones or bottom ones? I've been referred to for mine, have had a telephone consultation and am awaiting X-ray and face2face exam. I'm not always in pain but when it hurts it's bad but so far not as bad as yours!
I had one out years and years ago under local and it was weird; you can feel them working in your mouth but it didn't hurt. Not fun but it was ok

Thedarksideofthemoon30 · 04/12/2020 08:23

Itโ€™s a top one. The X-ray yesterday they said that root it the best time to take out and he said it looks like an easy one.

The other one needs it taken out under Ga as itโ€™s growing horizontally into the other tooth.

Oh wow. I do find the xrays fascinating! Have you got a date yet?

Jumpingjosephene21 · 04/12/2020 09:18

I've had this and it's rotten. When mine was infected and painful I had chronic headache and earache too. Thankfully one round of antibiotics seemed to clear it up but I do still get problems now and again. I thought another infection was starting a few weeks ago and used mouthwash religiously and that seemed to keep it at bay.

Ideally it should come out but it can be a big and painful operation so maybe your dentist is trying other options first? You may need another course of antibiotics this time, but mouthwash and/or salt water can also help. I'd ring and speak to the dentist again. Good luck x

Iโ€™m very scared of the dentist, delayed having the tooth out. In the end, it wasnโ€™t traumatic, it was so quick. The top ones apparently come out even easier. I did get dry socket afterwards so first week was quite sore and miserable but it was definitely worth it to get rid of the constant pain beforehand. Dry socket usually only happens with the bottom teeth so you should be ok there anyway

BungleandGeorge · 04/12/2020 09:59

If itโ€™s come through reasonably straight and poking out of the gum (dentist says โ€˜straightforwardโ€™ extraction!) itโ€™s not generally a big procedure at all

ATowelAndAPotato · 04/12/2020 10:09

Glad they are taking another look at it for you. I have been suffering intermittently with one of mine, but it is almost completely erupted now and I have a gap between a couple of teeth further down on that side so am trying to bear with it, as there is technically room for it to come through. It is actively on the move at the moment, and the whole side of my head from temple down to my neck and aching, as well as across my face. And into my ear! No obvious infection or anything so ibuprofen / paracetamol seem to be keeping it in check for now.

Looks like I have one about to join the party on the other side though, and think I might have to get that removed as there is no room for it at all!

Bless you, I had this a couple of years ago and it was so painful. I ended up in A&E the pain was just so bad and it turned out the nerve that runs along your jaw got infected too and I needed antibiotics.

Only advice would be not to downplay the pain, take the painkillers you're offered and don't worry about the removal - it will be so worth it! The relief of not being in constant pain was amazing.

Hirewiredays · 04/12/2020 10:21

I had my wisdom teeth all taken out when I was 25. All partially erupted since I was 15. A lot of pain and uncomfortable for years. Was told if they didn't come up by mid 20s 5then get them
Removed. My life has improved so much. The best advice I was give. Was to get an electric toothbrush as they clean the gum and back of the moth better. Th erupting isn't the problem is the gems and food that gets caught under so you need to give them a good clean and often.

Thedarksideofthemoon30 · 07/12/2020 09:06

On the side that is sore (although not as sore anymore!) I have like a bruise/indent shown up on my cheek. Itโ€™s really sore to touch and if I bend my head that way it hurts.

Any idea what it could be?!
