What activities did your toddler do today?

In a similar theme to my “what did your toddler eat today?” thread currently running, I thought this would be fun to share ideas.

It is NOT intended to make anyone feel crap if they have plonked their toddler in front of the telly all day because we all know some days need to be like that.

It’s also NOT intended to be as a humble brag / stealth boast about how advanced your child is or how creative and fun you all are Wink

It’s intended to be more of an ideas sharing initiative to help people, especially as I am finding lockdown 2 is going SO slowly. So only productive/constructive contributions please Smile

Today with 14m old DD we did some painting this morning using an old bath sponge and a potato chopped in half (and her hands, mostly).

We went for a walk around the block (she has recently started walking but is quite nervous walking outside).

We watched Shrek and played with her toys for the rest of the day. Oh and she was allowed to put the toppings on her homemade pizza for tea which she really enjoyed!

When DD was one, she loved painting with water. It was great - hardly any mess. I had some large pebbles (which I categorically did not take from a beach) and DD loved painting them with water to bring out their colours.

She would also be as happy as Larry when she was tipping water from one container to another. In fact she still is now (aged 2.5).

1 year old and 3 year old and it rained the entire day.

We unpacked a new couch last night and saved them the huge box it came in. I don’t think even Christmas morning will come close to their excitement at the box. It kept them entertained on and off all day.

Both played with Ikea train set and an orchard giant road. 3yo played with ocean and safari figures, 1yo did some wooden puzzles.

Few hours in the garage playing with sand box, ball pit, slide, mini trampoline.

Plastered themselves in stickers from a monster activity book and coloured in (1yo mostly organised the crayons)

Made some play dough with 3yo and he played with that while 1yo napped.

1yo spent an hour playing with her toy sink. It has a tap with running water and she fills up cups and empties them. 3yo read books with DH and played with Thomas train track.

Bath with toys and then nursery rhymes on Netflix while they’re getting ready for bed.

Some great ideas! I have forgotten the joy of a good cardboard box and I’ve got one hanging about that DD will no doubt love so I’ll be getting that out later today!

This morning we’ve had a FaceTime with Grandma, played with puzzles, hit the xylophones very loudly, read books, attempted the shape sorter and we are now watching some Hey Duggee.

Yesterday mine played in our bedroom with various toys for quite a while after he'd had his breakfast while we lazed around in bed reading and having coffee as he'd got up far too early. Later he helped to cook lunch, then had storytime and a nap. Afternoon was a long walk to the playground and playing there while watching the older children, then back again through the rain in his puddlesuit singing songs all the way to encourage him to keep going! We played the memory card game (he can't do it yet, but he likes trying), had a Skype with family while he pottered around and occasionally joined in, then bath, dinner, stories and bed.

Today has been mainly out on his tricycle to the local playgrounds, is now settling down for a nap, and in the afternoon will be with granny. Various toys, books and general pottering etc in between.

Crap laptop, blank Word document, Wingdings, extra large font size in pink/blue/green = much needed morning coffee in peace😅

These are all great!

So far today we've played "what's in the box" (mostly animals), done some drawing (including all over her legs) and are now having lunch and watching Andy's dinosaur adventures.

@EnidMatilda- what do you want to know? Grin

DD has always had a long nap (and long may it continue I hope!) minimum 2 hours, usually 3, sometimes a little longer. Gets up around 7am/7.30am and goes back down around 11am til around 2pm then has lunch. She goes to bed at 7.30pm.

She goes to nursery 3 days where she naps no longer than an hour but on her days off she has a long nap which I often join her for Blush

I will add I’m not one of those parent with an amazing sleeping baby as she has only just started sleeping through the night and is still in my bed! Grin

Nearly 3 DD here. She woke up last night at 2am and wanted to sleep in our bed, few tosses and turns, and DH turned over for her to sneeze in his face, nice! So everyone was very tired this morning, we stayed in bed and watched a lot of Geckos Garage.

Then came downstairs, did painting, then christmas stamping some brown paper for later wrapping of presents. Had lunch. Then more playtime, went for a walk to the park, came home and watched Frozen. Dinner, bath, bed.
