Train across Europe ending in Sirkeci station in Istanbul (I love travelling in Europe)
We’ve been to Turkey many times but would love to do a proper tour around as we haven’t branched out
Trans-Siberian railway (no budget I would go Tsar’s train)
Patagonia to Buenos Aires
India

Life has been tough recently, I'm dreaming of a time when I can go on these holidays;
1 train journey to Slovenia, spend a few weeks there in the lakes, mountains and cities.
2 Romany caravan and horse round the West Country.
3 India, spend some time in an ashram doing yoga.
4 skiing somewhere in Europe.
5 Dog sledging in Sweden or Norway.

Chanel05 · 15/11/2020 09:53

Drive Route 66
I've visited 9 US states and I'd like to visit the remaining 41 in my lifetime.

In all honesty, I'm only interested in visiting North America and I have been lucky enough to visit many wonderful places in North America already. Wasn't hugely keen on Hawaii!!!

SenorFrog · 15/11/2020 10:05

I've lived abroad and travelled quite a bit but I've strangely never been to South America, so I'd like to go there soon. Plus I've only done Mexico in Central America, I'm really keen to go to Costa Rica and Belize.

I've lived in the US and have visited most states but I'd love to take dh to the city I lived in and show him my favourite places etc.

FrazzledFTM · 15/11/2020 10:21
  1. South Africa
  2. Northern lights in Iceland
  3. Disneyland (for dc, obviously)
  4. Venice
  5. German Christmas markets
Mirrorxx · 15/11/2020 10:38

I have been on a few safaris and they were the best experiences on my life so my list is just more safaris but in new areas of Africa

countrygirl99 · 15/11/2020 10:41

@Mirrorxx I was tempted to just say safari and more safari but in reality if money was no object I would do a safari every year a d something else off my very long want to do list. Toddles off to buy lottery tickets

Mirrorxx · 15/11/2020 10:49

@countrygirl99 haha yep if only safaris weren’t so expensive. I’m currently trying to plan one for 2021 and hoping it will actually go ahead

chipsandpeas · 15/11/2020 10:52

visit all the US states - visited 7 so far
austraila/new zealand
asia
african safari (ideally south africa)
south america/amazon

ErrolTheDragon · 15/11/2020 10:54

I'd love to do 2 and 3 off your list, OP.

We did one good 'bucket list' holiday when we lived in the US in the 90s - raft down the Grand Canyon, plus driving to places like Bryce and Zion National parks.

BearSoFair · 15/11/2020 10:55

Stockholm, sleeper train to Malmo, then cross to Copenhagen.
Northern lights in Finland or Iceland.
NHL ice hockey tour of the USA and Canada.
Anywhere in New Zealand!

popcorndiva · 15/11/2020 11:04

isseywith4vampirecats · 15/11/2020 12:30

this year was supposed to be one of my bucket list destinations, booked December 2019 to Naples so we could go to Pompei that didnt happen because i bottled out and cancelled it due to covid ,
so Pompei and Herculanium

Quite a niche one but we are hoping to go to Sturgis motorbike rally in America in 2022

Kenya because my dad lived there after the war

a proper old fashioned grand tour of Europe

Barbados again loved it there in 1994

countrygirl99 · 15/11/2020 12:41

@ErrolTheDragon I always say going to Bryce was the most expensive thing we ever did as it was where DS2 discovered he loved horses

meow1989 · 15/11/2020 13:18
  • Island hopping round hawaii (have been to Honoloulou but would love to go back!
  • to see the northern lights (Scandinavia or a nice log cabin in scotland)
  • Galapagos Islands
  • An American theme park
  • Various national parks in America
meow1989 · 15/11/2020 13:18

And the Maldives

doctorhamster · 15/11/2020 13:30
  1. Iceland
  2. Norwegian Fjords
  3. New England
  4. Maldives
  5. New Zealand
HeronLanyon · 15/11/2020 13:44

I was lucky enough to have first trip to Maldives before lockdown - never been that keen but bloody hell the island I was on was staggering and marine life unbelievable. In darker lockdown days I look at photos and am transported and can’t believe I was there weeks before things changed.

My remaining bucket list -
Return to Maldives ASAP (Grin
Return to Andaman Islands
Northern India (only been southern states)
Iceland
Greenland
Scottish Highlands & Islands
Kamchatka peninsula
Weymouth - know this may be odd but have never been and have always meant to - it’s become a strange obsession. Could have hopped on train at Waterloo many a time. Just never have.

Changeofheartinlockdown · 15/11/2020 14:11

Oh yes to Peru

Am turning my 5 into 10 Smile

OP posts:
Raindropsonrosesand · 15/11/2020 19:05
  1. Kamchatka
  2. Svalbard skiing expedition (would want to learn how to xc ski and get really fit first - this is fantasy, right?)
  3. Trans siberian railway, stopping off lots along the way without a fixed schedule
  4. Borneo (with no pirates to worry about. Fantasy, right?)
  5. Karakoram Highway across NW China and into Pakistan (as above)

If I have to take the world as it is, then:

  1. Top end African Safari
  2. Idyllic Island somewhere, maybe the Maldives

And realistically I'm never going to be fit enough for a xc ski expedition, so maybe change

  1. Antarctica small-group cruise
StopMakingATitOfUrselfNPissOff · 15/11/2020 19:58

ureterr1blemuriel · 15/11/2020 20:24

  2. Spending a night in a glass igloo sleeping under the northern lights
  3. Tour of Canada in summer
  4. Drive across NZ in a camper
  5. A safari staying in a treetop hotel (costs about a grand a night and that was a few years ago!! 😬)
