Your skirting boards?

I already thought not often enough, but this thread has me feeling quite guilty!

doctorhamster · 10/11/2020 10:43

The bits I can see get the hoover brush run over them once a week or so. The bits that are behind furniture, never!

BadTattoosAndSmellLikeBooze · 10/11/2020 10:44

I vacuum them if I can see dust.
I never ‘clean’ them unless I can see something on them. They’re white and look clean.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 10/11/2020 10:45

Never.

But I don't have any. 🤣

Much to my plasterers dismay, I had the walls plastered right down to the concrete floor. I lived overseas fir a goid few years and that's the norm, I far prefer it.

TheGirlWhoLived · 10/11/2020 10:57

I dust them the same time that I dust the room, so probably once every 3 days. They tend to only get cleaned if the need it, or I do a quarterly deep clean with the season change and do things like clean doors, move the sofa, move the tv/ fridge etc. So they get washed then with the walls

TheChosenTwo · 10/11/2020 11:00

The cleaner does it during every school holidays (she does a deep clean when we go away) so usually every 7/8 weeks. She did a deep clean in the summer holidays but hasn’t done one since!

BadTattoosAndSmellLikeBooze · 10/11/2020 11:00

So they get washed then with the walls

People wash walls..... 😳

WhentheDealGoesDown · 10/11/2020 11:03

Probably about every 6 months, I will notice that one is a bit dusty and then go round and do them.

Whoooootaminute · 10/11/2020 11:04

When I notice the dirt.. As I'm getting older and my eyesight is getting worse the cleaning is less frequent. 😜.

Most of ours are recently painted white too so need to be kept on top of but life gets in the way

BiBabbles · 10/11/2020 11:13

Me? Very rarely. That's a chore I give the kids, usually when I ask them to give me a hand for ten minutes and get tired of pointing out obvious messes while they claim there isn't anything left to clean.

YardleyX · 10/11/2020 11:13

Surely they’re just part of your normal dusting?!

So, about every other day?

Anybody who thinks there is no dust on their skirting boards is sadly mistaken!! Grin

just5morepeas · 10/11/2020 11:34

I dust them whenever I clean that room (once a week/fortnight) and wash them once in a blue moon!

I have a long handled flat microfiber duster with a washable cover which is very useful for this type of thing.

Poutintrout · 10/11/2020 12:10

Every week the immediately visible ones get dusted with the brush attachment on the hoover so I don't have to bend too much. I don't pull furniture out to get to hidden ones though. They also get wiped with a damp cloth & disinfectant & things get pulled out two or three times a year when I do a major "spring" clean.

H1978 · 10/11/2020 12:33

Once a week. Ours are all white so you can definitely see the dust.

Simplyunacceptable · 10/11/2020 13:16

Honestly never. I will give them a wipe if I’m on the floor and the ones in eyesight look dusty but I can’t be bothered regularly cleaning all of them.

lastqueenofscotland · 10/11/2020 13:18

I damp dust them every week or two. They are white gloss and it is SO obvious when they are dusty

MustardMitt · 10/11/2020 13:31

I’ve lived here 13 years, once so far.

EatTheHamTina · 10/11/2020 13:33

Every week. I have a mental checklist when I clean each room and skirting boards get done when I'm cleaning that room.

SockDrawer · 10/11/2020 13:36

Dust: once a week (long handled feather duster = easy peasy.)

Wipe: probably once or twice a year.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 10/11/2020 13:55

Only if I see mud on them( have a Westie so that's quite often!)

LadyCatStark · 10/11/2020 14:20

Once a week. I also have a retractable microfibre dusting thingy so it’s just a case of doing a lap of the room and running the duster along them. It only takes a minute.

DreadingSeason2020sFinale · 10/11/2020 15:38

Rarely but when we're doing a good clean I just hand a damp cloth to one of the kids and tell them to get on with it. Door frames too. Gotta make em earn their keep now that you can't send them out to the factories or up the chimney GrinWink

firstimemamma · 10/11/2020 15:42

Monthly. I have a toddler so I consider that pretty good going!

CMOTDibbler · 10/11/2020 15:43

Every year maybe? Lifes too short

TheGirlWhoLived · 10/11/2020 15:56

@BadTattoosAndSmellLikeBooze my walls get mysterious toddler sized hand prints, ketchup, mud, what I really hope is mud but could equally be more undesirable et al- so they at least need a wipe over 😂
