Does anyone else drink it? Last 3 nights I've replaced my bed time cuppa with a mug of ovaltine and I must admit.. Its delicious.

Bournvita! I loved that as a kid. And Ovaltine chocolate 😊

TheNoodlesIncident · 08/11/2020 22:26

I don't like hot chocolate but I do have a singing Ovaltine mug. I saved up coupons for it in the 80s. Or was it 70s..? Anyway. It still plays too Smile

GellerYeller · 08/11/2020 22:28

I'm sure mum bought Horlicks tablets too, from the chemist? Like sweets wrapped in a paper tube, Refreshers style?

Housewife2010 · 08/11/2020 22:28

I stockpile the fantastic Ovaltine spread when we go to France. I've bought the chocolate bars there but they are very different from the ones we used to get here. Anyone remember Horlicks Maltlets too?

Pebbledashery · 08/11/2020 22:30

I but the sachets of ovaltine.. Its so yummy as a night time drink. Horlicks does actually help me sleep better as well.

I went off tea for a few years when I had dd, needed something else and loved Ovaltine for ages. Back on tea now, I haven't had any for ages. Maybe I'll buy some more...

Flowerblue · 08/11/2020 22:59

I used to get given some Ovaltine powder in a bowl as a huge treat.

Yes, I used to buy them from Boots.
onelostsoulswimminginafishbowl · 09/11/2020 06:49

I've got quite a bad Milo habit 😬
I have had to wean myself off because I don't think its doing my teeth any good 😔

Pebbledashery · 09/11/2020 10:00

@onelostsoulswimminginafishbowl Oh my goodness, Milo!!! not had that in YEARS!!

Yep. I get them from Morrisons and they have the chocolate Ovaltine too. Delicious. Growing up, it was all my grandmum would drink. Never thought it would one day be my thing too.

Afromeg · 09/11/2020 10:33

I would buy Milo but lick it all instead of drink as hot choc. Amazing! My teeth didn't thank me though so I stopped sadly.

Couldn't get into Horlicks. I tried. the taste just didn't work for me.

mogtheexcellent · 09/11/2020 10:50

I love ovaltine made with milk, not the add water version. I only use one teaspoon though instead of the 4 on the instructions.

I get the huge tubs from Costco and heat the milk up in my milk frother Grin.

Gotthetshirt23 · 09/11/2020 10:51

Milo for me

1moreglassplease · 09/11/2020 10:56

Ovaltine is gorgeous and as I don't drink coffee it's my go-to when I want a change from tea. I've seen Ovaltine biscuits in Sainsburys but never tried them. I have had Ovo Rocks which are like Maltesers and totally addictive but you can't buy them here.

Because everyone stocked up on teabags during March lockdown I ended up stockpiling jars of Ovaltine so at least I could have that as a hot drink. Very soothing.

Pebbledashery · 09/11/2020 11:03

Ovaltine is like a big hug in a mug :)

LovelySmile
Only on special occasions for me. I can't really take the high sugar content.

My DC loves it too calls it malteasers drink

Splodgetastic · 09/11/2020 11:15

Do you all have the instant version or make with milk? Interested to know whether the instant version makes for a lovely sleep too.

Sparklingbrook · 09/11/2020 11:37

I have always preferred made with milk but when I have made it with water it's fine and same lovely sleep.
Afromeg · 09/11/2020 11:50

Ooh i forgot the Ovaltine biscuits from Sainsbury's! They're so good I was addicted. Had to stop as well.

Afromeg · 09/11/2020 11:53

These are the ones I'm talking about. The add milk ones.

Ovaltine..

Afromeg · 09/11/2020 11:54

And there's also the 'light' versions with 'Add water' instead.
