Ocado Slots

Is anybody having difficulty getting a slot?

I pay an annual fee. No slots at all. I have tried since Sunday

Smart pass holder here and have had no problems booking up to 4 weeks ahead which I always do to get my Friday slot. As soon as I get my next delivery I book the next slot 4 weeks ahead. Have always done this. Never had any problems during the last lockdown either - could add things for my elderly neighbours as well. Most of my friends who work full time and no time to get to the supermarket do the same.

MrsTwitcher · 03/11/2020 11:59

Waitrose did show slots until end of November but they gave been removed now and it only goes up until 17th with a few late afternoon slots left. Their Xmas slots went weeks ago. Tesco doesnt even show slots for the next 3 weeks, just says not available. The only ones available are Iceland. Loyal customers who spend thousands a year are being laughed at.

Area specific as I can see Tesco slots. Waitrose for me goes up to the 11th November with a couple of slots available.
tywysoges · 03/11/2020 12:11

Yup, can only see Waitrose to 10th! No slots available. Tesco has some availability tomorrow and then from the 17th. Sainsbury’s has availability from the weekend, but also can only see the calendar up to the 10th.

Aragog · 03/11/2020 12:22

I can see Ocado dates up til 1st December.
Not all are available in our area- infact the availability has reduced since I finished sorting my 22nd November slot this morning,

MrsTwitcher · 03/11/2020 12:36

It obviously depends on where you live😟

JemimaTab · 03/11/2020 13:33

My Ocado also still shows a few Xmas slots - but at slightly odd times (e.g. 11:00 p.m.).

They’ve also just released a few slots for tomorrow evening. I guess they’re trying to manage demand, given that their system broke down completely due to demand on the first lockdown.

Shellingbynight · 03/11/2020 13:41

The Christmas Booking option has been removed

It's still there on my screen, I just checked. When I click 'book a delivery' I get an option to select a Christmas slot. But as I said the chances of actually getting a slot now are remote. Even in a normal year you'd struggle to get a Christmas slot this late in the day.

I've participated in the other Ocado thread linked to, people's experiences are mixed but I've been very happy with them. They have been immeasurably better than the other online supermarket I use - Waitrose, who couldn't offer me a delivery for months on end.

zigaziga · 03/11/2020 14:11

I had a massive problem in March - early summer but no issues now at all. I’ve just checked the app and I could have my pick of slots tomorrow and any day ahead.
I’ve booked 3 weeks in advance but sometimes I forget and book a few days in advance.

For me it’s working as it always was now. I get maybe one substitution a week.

KittyMcKitty · 03/11/2020 14:17

I have an Ocado Reserved delivery every Tuesday. Just looked on the App and if I want an additional delivery the earliest is the 15th.

Tbh I’ve been mighty fed up with Ocado since they split with Waitrose- I’m not a fan of the M&S stuff at all. I had been thinking of stopping Ocado and switching to Waitrose or Tesco but with this new lockdown I’m going to stay out for the time being.

Mycuppatea · 03/11/2020 14:30

I’ve just cancelled my smart pass, the restrictions from March/April were clearly in place with only one order a week and now I can’t get any slots. I’ve spent far too much time sitting trying to get a slot, it was driving me bonkers when the other supermarkets all have availability.

Aragog · 03/11/2020 15:03

Its gone from my screen too.

KindergartenKop · 03/11/2020 16:57

Slots have been becoming scarcer and scarcer over the last 3 weeks or so in my area. I've got a few booked into the next few weeks.

noCauseRebel · 03/11/2020 17:08

I’m honestly amazed anyone even uses ocado any more.

During the first lockdown they were by far the worst of all the supermarkets, denying slots to many regular but vulnerable members, removing their app which still hasn’t returned, the m&s launch has been a disaster, they regularly cancel deliveries with just hours to spare, and now we’re in a second lockdown they once again have no slots.

For people who have several pre-booked slots, they’ve also just changed their policy and users can no longer book slots less than fourteen days apart, so you might want to make alternative arrangements for if they cancel.

Oh, and to top it all off, they’ve made 200 staff redundant so they could move their call centre to somewhere cheaper, despite the fact their share price has more than doubled.

Where have to seen that?
I have three reserved slots in place on each Sunday. They are still in place at present, and it allows me to book a delivery a few days later too if I want.

tywysoges · 03/11/2020 18:55

^ Shock yes, I need to know too. I have a regular every Wednesday, booked until 2nd Dec! Off to Ocado website to find out.

musicaldilemma · 03/11/2020 19:42

I just logged in to Ocado no problem and all my deliveries for the next 4 weeks are showing. Nothing has been cancelled. I have really enjoyed the switch to M&S- have been with Ocado since 2008 so it is a nice change for me. Also I only book one weekly slot but the system is allowing me to book additional orders (which I won’t to give others a chance too). Pretty much all my friends use Ocado and in our area (outer London) nobody who has been a customer for years and orders regularly and larger orders has had any problems. I did read somewhere that smaller order are not that profitable so I assume most supermarkets would prefer to prioritise their 100 pounds plus regular weekly customer

Ontheboardwalk · 03/11/2020 19:55

noCauseRebel I’ve no idea where you are getting this nonsense from, do you actually use Ocado?

Appreciate they’ve not been great for everyone but (until this week) I’ve been able to choose daily slots and the app has been working for me for many weeks

After the lockdown announcement, as expected, a lot of the slots have now gone this week but there’s plenty for me to choose from next week

Can you link to the source of where you’ve seen the changed T&Cs? It’s certainly not stopped me having 5 deliveries from now till the end of a November

To be fair to @noCauseRebel they do have many points. I linked to a thread above. It started before lockdown and is now on its fourth or fifth incarnation. It’s amazing what you discover when lots of you can come together and compare.

There are many of us for whom the app never returned, some received invitations to book Christmas slots over a week before others. Some of us pay £1.99 for a smart pass, others up to £10.

Ocado sorted us as customers last lockdown and I have little doubt they will do the same this time around. I’ve not seen any change to T&Cs but in all honesty it wouldn’t come as a surprise.

The only reason I didn’t cancel my smart pass months ago is because I thought lockdown 2 might happen and as long as I could get my weekly reserve slot then I know I’m getting my shopping. It would t surprise me if reserved and those slots are cancelled (they were last time) and believe me as soon as this is over I, and a lot of others in that thread, will be leaving.

NoCauseRebel · 04/11/2020 06:44

It’s all over their mentions on social media so presumably not necessarily official but plenty of people have had it happen to them.

Added to which Ocado are renowned for cancelling orders at the last minute, regularly. So much so that when they cancelled hundreds of orders on the day of the M&S launch, even orders which had been booked weeks in advance, it made it into the news.

Completmentfille · 04/11/2020 06:45

I'd booked mine up til end November but when I looked for my mum the other day there was plenty available.

Completmentfille · 04/11/2020 06:46

Are they?! I've basically used them every week since 2014 and never once had an order cancelled.

Aragog · 04/11/2020 08:54

Ten plus years of using them and never had that once.

Although they've had some issues over lockdown I have to say that overall I still rate them to the others I've used.

For almost all of,lockdown I had regularly weekly deliveries.
Before and during lockdown I've rarely had missing items or subs, nor since.
I've never had a cancelled order in that time.

They've been more reliable than any other supermarket delivery service, hence I still use them.

NastyBlouse · 04/11/2020 09:04

These threads always go the same way... half a dozen supermarket PRs shouting at each other and a few normal people going ‘eh?’

SpikeDearheart · 04/11/2020 11:33

Well, I've just had a text saying they're bringing my order editing time forward so they're obviously struggling. At least they told me in advance this time, I suppose.
