Curtain pole for bay window

I've recently moved in to a new house and it's driving me a little crazy trying to work out what to do with the living room window.

It's a shallow bay window which is quite "boxy" and at the previous owners left behind their wooden blinds. All good, however there's no blinds on the side windows and no curtains either.

I'm a bit stumped about what to do with it. There's a real lack of privacy even with the blinds closed as anyone coming to my front door can see in.

I've had a look online and can't seem to see anything small enough for the side windows, and although I can see curtain poles for bay windows it's only for the more "curved" type windows.

I'd be looking for a white or silver/chrome curtain pole and eyelet curtains.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated Smile

We have a square bay window with a blind across the middle, smaller ones either side of it and one each on the side. We might have gone for one large across the big window, but it would have been too heavy to manoeuvre them up and down. In front of the bay, we have a curtain pole, with a voile panel each side to dress the window, so it looks a bit softer.

These aren't the poles, but that's what part of the pole looks like, IYSWIM! Just ask in B&Q for poles for a bay window and then you can choose separate endings.

I'd go for shutters.

What about shutters

youareanobody · 26/10/2020 17:07

Hi all, thanks for the replies.

Shutters sound lovely, however I'd still want curtains to "dress" the window iyswim?

The side windows are tiny (literally about 10cm wide) and the total length at the side is about 40cm.

It would be really good to see what others have done with their box bay windows, if you have them?

I'm waiting until the other sofa finally arrives before making a final decision, so I have about 2 weeks. I knew this would be an absolute bigger! I'm definitely getting some privacy film for the little side windows for the time being though.

Oh wow I'm having window envy myhousekey Grin

I'd never thought of a Roman blind before but it's definitely something to think about.

The side windows are probably about half the width of yours however the wall that they sit in is probably about the same width, so it could work!

That's been really helpful to see, thank you Smile

Don't be envious @youareanobody , these windows are so old they're being held together only by the paint, there's more rot than wood ConfusedGrin

Roll on the lottery win!

We're moving house next month and the living room has a window like this. Thanks for starting the thread OP as I'm piggy-backing and getting some great ideas! Grin

I think bay window tracks will be perfect for you. Any of these will do a good job:

Hi is this what you are after? A friends other half bought the flexible rail from a local DIY shop & fitted it.
