What time do you get up?

A light hearted thread.

For work I get up at seven but if I do not have to be anywhere I would rarely get up before nine or 9.30. Is this unusual?
I would like to be an early bird but I really am not and particularly at the moment I am having trouble staying asleep at night so I am generally tired.
Would just be interested to know if my day starts later than everyone else's?
I accept that if you have young children who need attending to or you have certain duties in the morning such as walking dogs you would get up earlier.

If you had the choice to get up at any time what would it be?

It’s not necessarily lazy to get up later - someone who does this probably goes to bed later and has the same number of productive hours in their day.

During the week I get up about 5:30am and have a coffee in peace. At the weekend about 6am.

HoxtonBonnet · 23/10/2020 15:29

Work days 6.45, weekends 8 or 8.30 if I'm feeling decadent.

Crystal87 · 23/10/2020 15:40

I don't ever really get a lie in with having young kids but I don't like lying in too long anyway once I'm awake.

maybelou · 23/10/2020 15:50

I'm rarely out of bed before noon on a weekend where I don't have plans 😁 Usually up until about 4/5am though, I'm a total night owl!

Sleep at 1:30am during the week and up at 8am, very reluctantly.

discodave88 · 23/10/2020 16:08

When I was working it was about 7.00 maybe 7.15am and weekends would be roughly 9.30 occasionally 11am. I'm now on maternity leave so I don't really have set times anymore, sometimes 5.00 sometimes 8.00 occasionally 11am if I get a lay in. I've never (even before my baby) been able to naturally wake up any earlier than 9.00am even though sometimes I go to bed at 9pm. Anyone any tips how to get me waking up naturally or is it just not very "me"

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/10/2020 16:10

The alarm rings at 6 for medication and at 6:30 for getting up - even on weekends, because a regular day helps my migraine.

At the moment it is get up in the dark and come home in the dark. Much better in summer.

LaurieFairyCake · 23/10/2020 16:13

When I wake up with this guy staring at me

So about 6am (never any need for alarm clocks when you have hungry doggos)

What time do you get up?

I’m up at 6:30 on weekdays. 7ish on weekends.

I’ve always been an early riser but I bred one as well unfortunately.

These days I can wake up as early as 4:30 (stupid peri-menopause), in which case I listen to the radio and drink coffee in bed.

vanillandhoney · 23/10/2020 17:22

Workdays, 7.30am.
Weekends - whenever I wake up. Normally around 9am.

Inextremis · 23/10/2020 17:31

Nowadays I'm usually up between 10 and 11 am - I'm retired, and DH lets the dogs out when he gets up around 7am - they come back to bed with me until I wake up. I go to sleep sometime between 2 and 4 am, though I'm usually in bed by 1 - reading, watching YouTube or playing games. It's the best sleep routine I've ever had - spent 2 years living with my aged Dad who used to wake me up throughout the night (dementia, he had no idea what the time was) - and I'm loving the freedom to sleep when I feel like it, and bget up when I'm ready to.

Bluntness100 · 23/10/2020 17:36

Generally between six and seven.

When I was in my twenties at rhe weekend I was seldom up before noon. When I had my daughter I lost that ability and now at 51 I still can’t manage it, even though she’s 23 now. As soon as I wake up I get up.

Toddlerboozerepeat · 23/10/2020 17:41

05.30 - 06.30 even at the weekend Hmm
I am naturally an early bird but if I had no toddlers I would lie in till 10

AriettyHomily · 23/10/2020 17:47

Wake up at 530/6am. Could happily doze until 900. Kids have other ideas though.

Giganticshark · 23/10/2020 18:02

4am for work.
9am latest on days off. I like to see the whole day

PainintheholeSIL · 23/10/2020 18:12

I get up at 6.30am every day. Maybe 7.30 on a Sunday. I can't sleep any later than that and if I do try and stay in bed I'm completely useless and unmotivated all day!

CoronaIsWatching · 23/10/2020 18:14

7:15 weekdays. Between 8 and 9 weekends.

Shelby30 · 23/10/2020 18:23

Pre children at this time of year I wld never be up before 10am more like 10.30 even 11 sometimes it was fab 😂

Just now I get up about 7ish for work days and non work days usually the girls sleep till between 8-9am. On a really gd day 9.30!

I love my sleep I can't see it ever changing!

MsEllany · 23/10/2020 18:35

When working 845.

When not working, my inner clock can wake me any time from 9-12.

I am NOT a morning person!

MirandaMarple · 23/10/2020 19:11

For work (when not furloughed) anytime between 3am to late in the afternoon (airline)

I have a temporary job a couple of days a week and it's currently 5am.

On a day off between 7-9am.

user1471453601 · 23/10/2020 19:18

For the best part of 40 years I got up, m-f, at 5:30 am to commute to work. For the first five or so years after retierment, id be up any time between 6:30am and 8:00am. Ten years after retirement, it was 9:40 this morning.

I always thought I was a lark not an owl. I beginning to wonder if that's true.

Mind you, some of my reasons for sleeping later is because there is sod all to do now, thanks to covid
