What's the best way to preserve cooking apples?

My dad's dropped round about 50 of them from my sister & there's no way we'll eat that much apple sauce this side of Christmas!

Neither of the girls are fussed about apple pies or crumbles.

Any other suggestions for them? (Or maybe something festive I could pre-make?)

Tia :)

I make apple jam which is nice. I've done apple and cinnamon and apple caramel. Dutch apple cake also a winner! I chop and freeze sometimes but that depends on freezer space. Also as long as their not bruised they should last a good long while as is, so don't feel like you have to rush to use them all up in a few days

Freezer space is good; I have a chest as well as normal style one. I didn't know you could chop & freeze them. Don't they turn mushy?

Mincemeat, for your own mince pies.
Chutneys (could give as gifts)

They don't go too mushy, and are fine if you're using them in baked things. I usually make too much filling when I do Dutch apple cake and put half of the apple/sultana spice mix in the freezer, and it's fine in the cake. Might go a little squishy, I just defrost and drain it a little. For jams etc and crumbles they're absolutely fine frozen I think

Ooh I make a gorgeous rhubarb, ginger and apple jam too. It's amazing with cheese on crackers

I've had 400kg of them this year. Hmm

Slice and freeze them. Or make herb jellies like rosemary or thyme, Apple and ginger jam is nice. Or juice them in a food processor and and freeze or bottle the juice.

I chop some into cubes and make whole meal apple bread which is fabulous for breakfast.

I like apple and rhubarb chutney.
And apple and rhubarb crumble!
I’m planning on making apple and chilli jelly/jam.
