I am so fed up with relentless shitness of life at the moment, I have been trying to think of something to do inside on these dark winter nights to cheer me and DH/ DCs up.

I have decided to learn disco dancing prompted by hearing "Native New Yorker" on radio the other day.

This must be something I can learn online for free - but where is best? Come on MNers - help me pls

Ooh if you like disco music, on FB there's a Fab DJ who does discos from his home on Saturday nights. This Sat it's 70s and 80s disco, ill be boogieing along to it at home!

It's called "Discos for Grownups "

I used to do Disco Dancing as a teenager.

The governing body for it was called "Imperial Society Of Teachers Of Dancing".

Maybe you could try contacting them?

Please allow me to present to you, OP, a two-part lesson from the ZP School of Disco, situated of course in the well-known disco country of Finland. Subtitles are available 😉

Cannot claim credit for any of these but always enjoy watching!

OP and all other PPs, particularly the links - you have made my morning!!! I am so 100% giving a tutorial a go later.

CrepuscularCritter · 21/10/2020 08:45

I am enjoying an early morning boogie as part of my exercise routine and it's so much fun. Bring on the endorphins!

@StarCat2020 the ISTD disco dancing has now moved forward to become the freestyle examination branch, and is very different to the disco dance classes and competitions of the 1980s and 1990s (!). OP, I definately suggest Youtube for videos to learn good old 1970s style disco dance, and if you want a sequin boob tube - clear bra straps sewn on to it are your friend here, strapless effect with no chance of it falling down mid boogie.

Here's a little taste of Discos for Grownups as he's also on YouTube. Enjoy!

@dancinfeet
Thanks for the update (even though it does show just how long ago I was a teenager)
