Why do schools assume we all access to a working printer?

Dc have been given worksheets to complete for their homework.

Only they haven’t. It’s been put online with the assumption that we can print it off at home. They won’t print it because of Covid Hmm

We have a printer. But it needs new ink which we can’t afford right now.

I’m going to have to hand write every piece of the worksheet down onto paper.

Dh thinks there will be places open that can print it out but really, if schools won’t do it, I doubt we can find anyone else to.

I'm stunned at this. We would never assume up to date devices at home and would have no problem printing something for you. Even DD2's primary school which was pretty rubbish through lockdown made a huge point of not having to print the work, it was written on all of the online worksheets. Please contact them and ask and if they won't I'd be telling the teacher that they can't do the homework. It's ridiculous.

I get my ink from eBay , it’s more than half the price of the branded stuff. Also does your child have a friend near you that you could ask- tell them your printer isn’t working. ?

Let your school know. At my school we print resources for anyone unable to do so themselves as do most other schools. You don’t know if don’t ask!

Can you use the photos you’ve taken and write on them on your phone and upload like this. Not the nearest but it worked.

This is the ink you need.

Although just telling school you don't have a printer should be enough for them to provide an alternative option for you.
