Some of my raw white basmati rice is yellow?

I always keep it in a air-tight container in the cupboard. Haven't made rice in a several weeks but now I notice I have some yellowish grains - they're hard like the rest - what is it?

I'm guessing it's not good to eat?

Not a hundred percent sure but I’ve been told yellow rice means it old rice, perfectly fine to eat, and we Indians prefer older rice. It’s supposed to double in size when cooked.

Thank you, I've just cooked it and the yellowness has gone, it looks like regular rice now!
