If your child's swimming lessons have started back are you allowed to watch?

My children's lessons have started back however parents are not allowed to spectate.

Is this the norm in other pools?

I'm not totally comfortable being able to observe them or the adults around them. (Yes I know they will have been checked, but those checks aren't foolproof).

Am I being an idiot?

Ours have started back and we are allowed to spectate, usually we aren't.

The usual rule is that kids go in the pool, parents stay in the changing room, the only adults in the pool area are the teacher and the lifeguard. Whole pool area is a no-phone zone too.

New rules are that everyone goes into changing room 1 for the kids to get ready, everyone goes to the pool area and the adults sit in chairs 2m apart, at the end of the lesson everyone goes into changing room 2 to get dried and leave. This makes it a one way system and means changing room 1 can be cleaned while changing room 2 is being used and visa versa. The pool area is still a no-phone zone.

I much prefer sitting in the changing rooms and for the pool area to be a parent free area, my DC spent a good portion of their lesson looking at me to see what I was doing, waving to me, calling "mam, look!" and generally faffing about as were the rest of the children with their parents. No parents means less distractions.

I now have to get in the bloody pool with them, so count yourself lucky Confused

We are allowed to (although don't have to) watch the lesson. Everyone not in the pool wears masks, and everyone has their temperature checked..

Yes. V small.pool. all socially distanced.

Oh god @Moltenpink 😱.

Yes, we can spectate as usual. Our lessons are in a small hydrotherapy pool so it’s warm in there anyway but wearing a mask too just makes it torturous 😩.

We go to the spectator area which means I can see DS1 in the main pool but not DS2 in the training pool.

Mind you prior to that DS1 and I did sime lanes while DS2 was swimming anyway.
