How to get creases out of a rug ?

If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it.

I have a new rug but it has some horrible stubborn creases that will not come out. I've tried ironing them out but they keep coming back.

Any ideas?

Can you not put it down and let it settle? I've found that being walked on will usually sort out the fold marks in a rug when it's been delivered.

Yes it's big. I've had it a few weeks and the more I walk on it the worse it gets

I think time and weight will do it. Have you got the edges weighted down by furniture? If you can sort of stretch it, put your heaviest furniture on the edges and then keep walking across the middle, then the creases will, eventually, flatten out.

I bought a shaggy room sized rug which had bendy-up corners and I had to resort to blu tac to keep them down, but after a week or so with the sofa on that end, the corners started staying down of their own accord.
