Suddenly I can't bear weight on one hip - really painful - what could it be?

Got home from work yesterday, had a bath, had dinner and then went to get up and couldn't put any weight on my right hip. Going from sitting to standing is excruciating and the pain is on the inside of the hip, sort of pelvis/groin even.

Has this happened to anyone? What was it?

I've been wearing high heels all week, also I've been on antibiotics and steroids for a few weeks due to a skin infection that won't clear up. Could it be linked to that? I can't be hobbling around, I'm only 41!

I have this, my dr said it's early oa coupled with tight hip flexors. If you look up some hip stretching/mobility exercises on YouTube or the like it will help. The sudden onset points to muscular in my (personal) experience. Joe wickes does a lot of hip stretching before his workouts and I found they really helped.

Could it be Sciatica or your Symphysis pubis seperated? Hope you are ok Op 💐

Thanks both. Ironically I just started yoga again after months off and have been doing it twice a week. Maybe I aggravated it without realising.

I'll look into those things

I did have mild SPD with my pregnancies and it feels like the pain is in a similar place

I keep wondering if it's like the irritable hip thing DS had once after a virus, but I think only kids get that don't they?

Could be bursitis? Have w Google

IHeartKingThistle · 24/09/2020 15:40

GP said muscle sprain and bursitis and is blaming yoga. Bloody frog pose. But it should just go away, which is awesome.
