Recommend me a super toasty winter coat for infant school DS

As title. Don’t really want to traipse round the shops looking and the sales let me down last year! Budget ideally max £30, age 5. Must be at least shower resistant. Style not imperative - bonus points for yellow or a nice red (visible!) but navy or olive would do if needs be. Any suggestions? I’m going round in circles.

Ps. It's a screen shot, sure how to send a link!

Have a look at Trespass website. Fantastic value. Ski jackets are especially toasty.

I got a really good one from John Lewis a couple of years back for ds. Lasted 2 winters. Fake fur around the hood and bright blue.

Misty9 · 23/09/2020 23:19

www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-partners-boys'-technical-parka-coat/bright-blue/p5071200?size=9-years this. But a bit over your budget. Try decathlon too

BogRollBOGOF · 23/09/2020 23:22

Decathlon
Go Outdoors
Mountain Warehouse

Mistlewoeandwhine · 23/09/2020 23:41

The best kids’ anoraks are from Boden . They wash and wash and stay like new so one off EBay would still be great. I couldn’t get over how good they were for my two boys.

Mistlewoeandwhine · 23/09/2020 23:41

Good colours too.

carrottopper · 23/09/2020 23:42

John Lewis - daughter has a lovely one with fur hood for £35. Lovely and warm and looks much more expensive

Camomila · 24/09/2020 07:22

Tresspass 3 in 1 coat from Amazon - DSs is bright blue with reflective bits but they had a few other colours too. (Bit over budget at £43 but comes up big, my last one lasted 2 years)

Findahouse21 · 24/09/2020 07:28

Dd has one from Hatley which survived reception and is ready for year 1 now.

I've just bought this for my 5 year old. It's lovely.
Sillybillypoopoomummy · 24/09/2020 08:15

Look at Lands End. The rare thing - a coat that is both warm and waterproof (rather than the useless 'showerproof'). Big sales on at the moment, and they do ones that expand as the children grow! My DC have them and love them.

itsgettingweird · 24/09/2020 08:17

My ds is 16 now.

I've been buying his coats from next since he started school. They've always lasted 2 years.

His current one was twice the price at £60 Shock but as it's adult size it'll last longer. It still looks brand new after 18 months.

BlackberrySky · 24/09/2020 08:19

Trespass. I always buy a size ahead in the March sale. They do great discounts and you can then keep it until the winter.

mogloveseggs · 24/09/2020 08:21

We've had some great coats from Morrison's over the years.
Ds currently has a Tesco one that's in its second year and looks brand new not easy when you're being worn by a very rough and tumble 8 year old

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 24/09/2020 11:17

Here's the Next link btw. Couldn't figure out how to link yesterday

Look at Lands End.

You know what - one of those places it would never occur to me. Thanks. Will make a mental note about March for the Trespass sale as well.

We've had some good coats from Zara and also fat face.

reluctantbrit · 24/09/2020 12:41

Trespass is one of our to-go shops for good winter clothes, DD is a Scout so it needs to be warm and waterproof, ski jackets are one of the best we found.

Decathlon or GoOutdoors are good value for money as well.

reluctantbrit · 24/09/2020 12:41

Pressed to soon, according to friends Aldi and Lidl often have ski clothes early in the year and their stuff is supposedly good as well.

Obviouspretzel · 24/09/2020 13:43

Agree with others, I always go for the outdoor shops. Warm , waterproof, plenty that look good too. Mountain warehouse, Trespass etc.
