Made katsu curry sauce too sweet - what can I do?

Made the Wagamama katsu curry sauce today. Have made it before and it's a perfect recipe but today I think DS distracted me and I put in too much sugar. What can I do to correct this?!

Could you put in more of the other ingredients and you'll have more sauce? Would some salt or chilli help?

ChinOfThanos · 20/09/2020 16:46

I've added some ginger and soy sauce ....

Soy sauce should help.

Have you got anything sour, lime juice or vinegar? Ideally rice wine vinegar.

I'd try rice wine vinegar or lemon/lime juice.

A tip I was once told is: if too salty, add sugar and the other way around if too sweet.

It confuses your taste buds and they think it tastes nice

Just a teaspoon

Missing the point of the thread completely, please can you share the recipe OP?

Any idea how much too much sugar?

Make some more with no sugar at all, mix it all up and freeze what you don't use.

ChinOfThanos · 21/09/2020 22:21

I added a few dashes of dark soy sauce and half a teaspoon of grated ginger. Was perfect. Thanks all, didn't think of rice vinegar and I had some of that in the cupboard too...
