Thanks for all the kind encouragement to go for the professional development role in A and E where I currently work. I got an interview which I’m delighted and surprised about really. I have to do a presentation, which I’m already writing but I’m really nervous about the interview questions. I’m not great at improvising and I will go bright red and freeze! If you have any ideas about what kind of questions I might be asked please will you question me for a bit of practise!

Your Trust's values and examples
Safeguarding
Data Quality
Data Protection and Caldicott

Infection Control

No idea but these off the top of my head
And they might give you a WWYD scenario

Good Luck Smile

A question about resolving conflict, possibly including an example from your own work.
A question about evaluating outcomes.
How your skills and experience fit the job, and how you think it will differ from your current role.

Usually at band 6 and above there's some degree of managing staff so expect some questions along the lines of managing a poorly performing staff member etc.
There's usually something related to safeguarding.
You might get asked to give an example of something you have achieved in your current role and are proud of.

My recent band 6 interview ( I got the job) I was asked a technical question, a question about pathways for a specific scenario I.e what the referral pathway is for a specific emergency, a management question and how I would deal with a serious complaint and nearly always...last three interviews what was the latest research that I read.

Common questions in my area are:
Describe your leadership style.
What are your values and where did they come from?
What is the difference between the role of a band 5 and band 6 nurse?
Can you tell me about a situation where you demonstrated leadership/clinical skill that led to a positive outcome?

I would also expect scenario based questions including a safeguarding situation.

Be able to name the CQC domains and Trust Values and mission statement. Be able to talk about the NMC Code of Conduct. Use examples of your practice whenever you can.

Good luck!

Thanks so much! I’ve done a secondment in the department as a band 6 so have some experience there but because this is a professional development role it’s completely new to our department, so a bit scared they will ask me something about professional development that I won’t be able to answer. Ah well. I can only do my best. Thanks for the tips, I’m going to start preparing some ideas xxx
