What do you use a fan oven for vs non-fan oven?

We've just bought a house that has a range master style thing in the kitchen, including both a normal electric and an electric fan oven.

I've never had a non-fan oven before! Do you use them the same? Are there things that are better cooked in each specific oven?

An oven thermometer is an essential device anyway IME! Smile
How many different compartments do you have? Do you know what they all do?

I use the fan for pretty much all types of cooking, including baking. Not entirely sure why but it seems to work out pretty well.

Have a fan, non fan, grill and warming drawer (?) the grill element seems to be broken which is a little annoying! Hopefully one of these sites will help us get a new element for that.

oooh I think your warming drawer might a slow cooker. Is it an actual drawer or does it have a door that flips down and you slide stuff in? These are brilliant for stews, meringues anything that likes a steady dry heat.

I use the non-fan when I need to cook two things simultaneously at different temperatures, eg if I’m doing a roast chicken with Yorkshire puds, I’ll put the chicken in the fan oven at 180 and the yorkies in the non-fan at 210.

I think sadly it's just a warming drawer - just a metal compartment that pulls out. I do love my slow cooker too though. Have been looking to add a pressure cooker as my next gadget! And after watching this season of Australian master chef, my husband wants a hibatchi grill 😂 but I don't think we quite have the ventilation for that....
