Please can anyone explain how to set up a WhatsApp group without adding the numbers to my contacts?

I seem to have the latest WhatsApp as looked in Apple where it updated two weeks ago but can’t work out how to just type numbers in ? I’d rather not have lots of unknown people in my address book but can’t work it out at all?
