Anyone else stopped wearing make up?

Since lockdown had us working from home and not really needing to leave the house much, I've not worn the stuff and feel so liberated for it!

I've not been dapping the concealer or foundation on for our work team zoom call. I'm starting to appreciate my skin and now wondering why I would cover it so much. Anyone else finding this?

@Crocky

I’ve given up wearing it and also given up blow drying and straightening my hair. My resemblance to the pigeon lady from Home Alone gets closer everyday.

I’ve worn make up every day, unless I’ve been really ill for about 54 years.
Even put it on through lockdown and now I’m questioning why.
Seems such a drag
( did you see what I did there?)
I will probably continue to wear it and it’s not much, it even ps out my skin tone but I really resent taking it off at bedtime.

I look so much better with my foundation and primer on. I can’t stand looking at myself on Zoom without it. So, no!

Don't bother when wearing a mask to pop to shops, but make up as normal at work. I look better with make up and I like wearing it. Don't think that'll ever change.

But it is nice to run out to the shops without putting it on, as mask covers up everything pretty much.

Definitely less. The first time we went out after rules eased, I felt like a painted lady in what was once my 'normal' makeup.

BB cream, brow gel, mascara, job done. Not even wearing my beloved red lipstick because its pointless if you have to take a mask on and off.

I usually wear mascara and brow pencil (I'm blonde so my eyes disappear unless I wear these). I've barely worn any other make-up especially as I found it came off on my mask if I went anywhere and no point in wearing make-up in the house if I'm not seeing anyone. I did put a full face of make up on today though as I was meeting up with someone I hadn't seen for 25 years so wanted to not look like an old hag look my best.

I was redeployed to covid ICU in March

I stopped wearing makeup for work and daily wear. Have probably worn any make up at all on maybe half a dozen times since on special occasions

I don't wear makeup anyway, and I'm delighted that more women are following suit. Long may it last. All the women who claimed they wore it for themselves and nobody else, I wonder if you've rethought this claim.

I read somewhere that sales of eye makeup had increase, but not lipstick as there's no point under a mask.

Gosh yes, think puberty was the last time I was this ‘fresh faced’. Carnt be arsed most of the time, and when I do put make-up on, I feel slightly weird in it. Are we all going feral? Confused

I stopped wearing make up about three years ago. I used to wear a full face daily, and didn't like seeing myself with nothing especially around the eyes. I really like my face now, eyes included, and my skin's improved no end.

I only wear make-up for special occasions/ nights out. I suspect that by the end of 2020 it will only have been worn once for a Zoom murder mystery a couple of months ago!

I just use EL double wear powder to take the redness away and eyebrows. Not sure I even like wearing mascara anymore though.

Report
OrigamiOwl · 03/09/2020 22:22

I definitely wear less...I still fill my eyebrows in (and I have eyelash extensions so no need for mascara). I've given up on Foundation and concealer.

Who are we doing this for? that is my question,

Wonder how many men are worried and doing all this?

It really is a man's world. I need to lie down now.

I haven’t been arsed with makeup since university & I think my skin appreciates it. I’ve been getting my hair done with clippers for nearly a year now too, & no longer own a hairbrush - wash, towel rub, hair done.

I have worn make up precisely twice since March. I am lucky that I have good skin, and tend to wear a bit of fake tan for colour. Mask wearing means I don't bother with lipstick when going shopping. Apparently lipstick sales are down.

I've stopped wearing any apart from mascara. It's brilliant - I remember when this would have been unthinkable.

What a waste of time / £ / effort, and for who?

Report
Legoandloldolls · 03/09/2020 22:56

Yes but I started again for the school run.

If I'm just going out in my mask I cant be arsed.

No one sees my face or recognises me. Mind you I'm wearing my mascara more these days. It helps with the eye rolling as that's my only facial expression in a mask

I like the idea of going feral

I gave up everyday makeup about 5 years ago. Now it’s only for really special occasions, and entirely to fit in. I was a bridesmaid last summer and that was the only day I wore any in 2019, none so far in 2020.

At first I wasn’t overly keen, but now I’m so used to my actual face that wearing it last year felt really odd.

Me. Hardly worn any since March. Put mascara on today to record a video for work and do prefer myself with it on but I do like not having to bother. Planning to have my eyelashes tinted when it's allowed and then that'll be me done! My skin is so much happier without it.

I stopped a few years ago (mid 30s). I don't know why. Just not a priority? I tried lippy a while ago and looked like my Dad in drag, that was fun. If I wear it now I forget and rub my eyes. Or the feel of it makes me want to pull my eyelashes to get it off and that's a habit I never want to rekindle. I've never felt self conscious or weird. There are people (eg school mums) who have never seen me with it so don't know any different. I'm not young looking or anything. Will say, am not in a job that requires formal attire. Previously worked with kids and teens, care type jobs, so casual. I used to love makeup and wore all sorts of stuff. I rarely wear jewellery also. I think maybe it's a sensory thing. I love jewellery but can't keep it on.

I only wear makeup if I'm going out or have people over. As I'm working from home and don't see people from day to day I'm not wearing any. I'll save a fortune in the long run and I tend to buy higher end brands.

@crocky hahaha

Know what you mean though.
I rough dry my hair for about 30 seconds, then twist it and clip it on top of my head to air dry.

Doesn't get blow dried or straightened these days.

I haven’t worn it for years and I have an OnlyFans page that’s doing rather well. I certainly don’t feel any need for it and no one else cares either if you don’t wear it.
