Do police forces contact other police forces

Just watching reported missing and it’s got me thinking especially as my son has been a missing person. If a person that’s missing has links to other areas would they contact them eventually? I know they did media appeals for my son in the local area but would they share the appeal with other forces if the person had links?

Yes, if the person is known to have links to another area then the other constabulary will be notified.

You see on social media all the time forces sharing info regarding missing people from other forces - especially if they believe they may have travelled into their area.

Yes they would. We often have contact with other forces and some of our systems are the same so we can easily transfer the information.
