Ideal number of toys?

What is your ideal number of toys? Either in boxes being rotated or in general.

My DS only plays with a fraction of what he has. It is overwhelming me, and the existing storage. What do I scale it back to?

I keep them in categories in boxes in
an IKEA kallax eg dressing up/ playing cafes/ wooden trainset/ schleich animals/ musical instruments/ puzzles/ construction toys etc it's still effort to keep tidy and sorted though and I have to regularly update and declutter as we don't have a lot of space. How old is your ds?

The youngest is 3 the oldest 9.
So lots of toys accumulated over the years. We probably have too much space. I'm sure if we had less space we'd in turn have less clutter.

My kids have absolutely loads of toys. I do as pp suggests and have them in boxes by type of toy. Some are out all of the time, others are stored under beds and are brought out specifically to play with. I get rid of them when they're grown out of. We have (just!)enough to spaceto keep it mostly tidy and organised.

We’ve got space but only a small unit with books and toys on rotation is out. Everything else is in a cupboard- too much stuff out can get a bit overwhelming so I swap a couple of things a few times a week. If DS(2yo) wants to play with sth else, he’ll go to the cupboard.
