What age did your child drop to 1 nap?

Can you please tell me what age your child dropped to 1 nap, especially if they were quite early to do so? Dd (8 months) has always been a terrible napper, but seems to nap better when having only1 nap. If I force 2 then sometimes she won't have 2nd at all, so her daytime sleep is only 30 minutes total, whereas if I let her have a later nap she'll only have 1 but it can be up to 90 minutes.

DS was probably 18 months.
DD has never ever in her whole 4 years napped in the daytime, even as a newborn and was about 4 months before she slept in longer than 20 minutes at a time during the night.

If one bap works best just go for it there is no right or wrong here.

*nap

Dd1 about 2.5!!

Dd2 at 12 months. She was much happier having a longer lunchtime nap

11/12 months.. took a while to adjust to the one nap as it really messed up sleep patterns for a month or 2

Notashandyta · 01/09/2020 10:37

All 3 of ours between 10 and 12 months

doadeer · 01/09/2020 10:38

I can't remember, but if one nap works best then you should stick with that!

I wasted way too much time worrying about routines and nap timings when dd was that age.

uglyface · 01/09/2020 12:12

About 12 months, but she stuck her usual limit of 28 minutes for a good month afterwards until she figured out that she’d be less tired if she napped for a bit longer.

Pertella · 01/09/2020 12:16

DD went down to 1 nap (around 1.5 hrs) at around 9 months and is still having it at 18 months.

She did start sleeping through from about 6months, so that may have something to do with it.

Mybobowler · 01/09/2020 12:23

About 13 months I think. She's almost 20 months now and still has a two hour nap in the middle of the day. I'm dreading the day she her nap entirely, my sanity lies in those two hours 😅

SwedishK · 01/09/2020 12:47

I had one great sleeper and one not so much.

DD slept through the night from 4 months and went down to one nap a day at around 8 months. She stopped napping all together just before she turned 2.

DS didn't sleep through the night for the first two years but napped loads during the day instead. I think he napped twice a day until he was almost one and a half and did one nap until he was almost 4!

CoffeeandKitKat · 01/09/2020 12:48

15 months

SingingWaffleDoggy · 01/09/2020 12:54

13 months when I went back to work and she went to the childminder. We are currently going through the 1 nap to no nap phase and it is challenging! If she naps she’s wide awake until 10pm, if she doesn’t nap she’s over tired and is awake until 10!

aToadOnTheWhole · 01/09/2020 14:01

About 10/11 months. Then dropped naps completely at about 18m. Then came a hellish six months where he didn't sleep in the day OR at night.

mynameiscalypso · 01/09/2020 14:05

11ish months (when we were in holiday...joy) although it's not consistent and depends what time DS wakes up and what he's doing (he's nearly 13 months now). I realised when I was fighting for longer to get him to have a second nap than he was actually napping for that the whole thing was ridiculous! Now we're just led by him and when he seems tired.

ShyTown · 01/09/2020 14:09

15 months but only because daycare forced it when she moved up a room. Would still occasionally have one at home at the weekend until about 18 months.

EsmereldaMargaretNoteSpelling · 01/09/2020 14:13

Around 8-9 months, both mine went from 2x 45/60m naps at 11ish and 3ish to 1x 2.5 hr at 1pm straight after lunch.

Deelish75 · 01/09/2020 16:17

Ds was about 18mths.
Dd was just after 12mths - although she did revert back to two for a few weeks (fell asleep during morning school run) but was definitely down to one by 18mths.

babbaganoush · 01/09/2020 16:39

Around 14-15 months I think

ConfusedPanda · 01/09/2020 16:42

Around 15 months

reluctantbrit · 01/09/2020 16:53

17 months.

At 8 months we had three naps, 30min at 9am, 1 1/2 hr at 1pm and a power nap at 4.30pm most days.

She dropped to 2 naps of 90 min each at around 1 year.

She still napped when she was 3-4 and still loves snuggling in bed after lunch on a weekend and is now 13.

The girls loves to sleep during the day but was always an early riser.

Minai · 01/09/2020 19:32

Both were about 15 months when they transitioned to 1 nap.

hellsbellswithcherryontop · 01/09/2020 20:05

I can't remember when she went to one nap but dd2 dropped all her daytime naps by 18 months! she still doesn't need much sleep at 14

Stinkyjellycat · 01/09/2020 20:07

8 months
