Moved home but to a noisy road

I've moved from a lovely house in a quiet road to a noisy tiny flat with awful windows near a busy road.
My living room has floor length windows and all I can hear is the cars outside I can't sit and relax and watch the TV I've stayed up late before and I can hear the wind.....
My room faces the back and luckily it's a bit quieter but I can still hear cars and the wind.

I really didnt want to move and the only reason I did was because the rent in this place was cheaper........

Ive lived In a flat litterly next to a main road before and could barely hear cars unless I had my windows open.
The windows are awful.
Can anyone offer a solution?
If I owned the property I'd have triple glazing on everything..

Please tell me a way to block out the noise frlm the windows..

There's some kind of film you can buy to put on windows. Unsure of details.

You’ll just need to get earplugs and hope you get used to it or move on as soon as you can.

I bet you get used to it. Have some nice background noise.

Heavy curtains?

We’ve lived on a busy road for over 50 years. My husband grew up living on the A 38. We just don’t hear the noise and never have. There is a company advertising on tv at the moment who claim their windows block out the noise.

We’ve done a similar thing! We’re only here for 6 months so trying to knuckle down and get used to it but it is hard!

It’s mainly the shitty motorbikes and the boy racery cars (why has society not grown out of this trend. I’m sure max power and Quiksilver Citroen Saxos we’re on trend 20 years ago!!) that annoys me - nobody wants to hear vehicles powered by extremely loud wasps.

Those motorbikes and racer cars are the bain of my life!.
I hope I get used to it but I'm a very light sleeper 😭.

I find quietness weird. I live in the grounds of a hospital and not only get sirens all the time, but people coming out the pub, patients from the psych ward yelling/singing, aeroplanes and motorbikes. Also hear the lift go and people banging their doors shut.

I went to stay with a friend in Scotland and if it wasn't for an animal scuttering around in the undergrowth and the occasional owl, there would be no noise at all. Found it very weird.

I realise this i snot helpful for you!

Start looking for other options in time for when you can move to somewhere quieter. Even if it costs a bit more.
