I think a sickness bug spreads through contact, actual physical contact and touching surfaces, that kind of thing.

I’d say definitely not from walking past someone UNLESS they were actually vomiting at the time and you were close enough to breathe in particles from that. Do you mean diarrhoea and vomiting? Dirty hands and contaminated surfaces. Also, some foods such as contaminated seafood can contain norovirus which causes D&V.

I've worked in a shop throughout Covid (and many many outbreaks of Norovirus).

I haven't caught Noro once. Because I wash my hands A LOT. I work on a till and I've seen how disgusting people are with their money and their cards, so I never touch food or eat anything until I've washed my hands
