If so where are you taking a gamble on ?

We’ve put a small deposit down for a March ski holiday in France. It’s where we were supposed to go this year. Let’s see 🤷‍♀️

Mirrorxx · 29/08/2020 11:17

We were just talking about this today. I want to go to specific hotel that I can’t seem to find as a package so am considering taking the risk of booking it

deste · 29/08/2020 11:17

Same here, ski holiday in Austria in January.

FusionChefGeoff · 29/08/2020 11:18

We, like many others, looking at the prices 😳, transferred 2020 holiday over to 2021 to make sure we didn't lose deposits / flights completely.

Exact copy so flying from Gatwick for 2 weeks in static caravan on fab campsite on the Italian Lakes.

DC and I are now on 135 day streak learning Italian thanks to lockdown so we'll be like bloody natives by then if it does go ahead Grin

Icequeen01 · 29/08/2020 11:27

We also moved this year's holiday to the same time in August 2021. Keeping our fingers crossed we will be able to go. Really missed sipping my lemoncello whilst gazing at Versuvius this year 😢

Backtobasics5 · 29/08/2020 11:30

No as I’ve just had my December holiday cancelled. Once we have got over Xmas I would consider booking though.

SomewhereEast · 29/08/2020 12:18

We've rebooked a holiday to Portugal for the end of May next year. To be honest I think things will be relatively normal next summer simply because the alternative is something pretty close to economic collapse.

minnieok · 29/08/2020 12:31

Booked the Italian lakes for next summer but own transport (either car or bike not sure yet). We'll take the tunnel so unless Europe is in full lockdown we will go (can wfh so quarantine isn't a big deal)

Lardlizard · 29/08/2020 13:18

Fusion what campsite is the static van on and does it have air con ?
I wouldn’t mind Going to this area as we want to visit gardaland

Looking to book as have flight vouchers to use. Thinking AI in Portugal at Easter. Have found a hotel that for £200 extra (for four) would let us cancel up to a week before we go.

We had an amazing time in France (drove, self catering, before quarantine hit) this year so I am going to ride my luck (with precautions!).

Waxonwaxoff0 · 29/08/2020 13:49

I already had one booked for February before coronavirus arrived. I've also transferred this year's to next year. Bahamas and Madeira.

timeforawine · 29/08/2020 13:50

Looking at the Maldives for Easter, booking as soon as they get added to the exception list so at least my insurance would cover.
Hopefully Majorca next Aug if allowed by then, that will be a relatively last minute booking.

Who did you book the Bahamas with?
FippertyGibbett · 29/08/2020 20:38

I’m not going to risk going away until Easter at the earliest I think. I’ll see how winter goes.

chinateapot · 29/08/2020 20:40

Booked flights and a villa for Greek islands jn August next year. Can cancel the villa up to a month beforehand. Desperately wanted something to look forward to and glad we did it.... fingers crossed.

Jeremyironsnothing · 29/08/2020 20:41

Transferred this year's flights to a different country next year in August. Booked a villa but can cancel up till the end of May.

Katieweasel · 29/08/2020 20:50

I was determined not to book anything then realised how much I need something to look forward to so have booked a very cheap package holiday for June. It was only a £60 pp deposit and I don't have to pay remainder until April. I weighed up that I could afford to lose £180 if things were still as bad. I won't be paying the balance until the very last day though.

Kez200 · 29/08/2020 20:55

Not yet. It was a pain waiting on this years cancellation and refund. Happy to wait until travelling isnt stressful with possible last minute cancellation, changes or quarantine

Lardlizard · 29/08/2020 20:59

Seems liek most peopel have just transferred this years holiday rather than biking something. A new if you know what I mean

I've booked for March but it's a UK holiday so feel like it might be a safer bet

GiantKitten · 29/08/2020 21:02

DD2 was getting married in the UK in June this year, and we had booked a beautiful big country house for the weekend where family could stay and local friends/relatives could visit.

That was all off, obv, & luckily we were able to rebook at no loss or increase for the same weekend next year.

That’s as far as we’ve got Grin

FusionChefGeoff · 29/08/2020 21:06

We are going to Del Garda village and yes the caravan has air con

Immigrantsong · 29/08/2020 21:08

Not yet. Lost money this year and can't take the risk again. Will wait and see. Plus I am worried about our jobs, so keeping things frugal atm.

NeedWineNow · 29/08/2020 21:08

Should be in Greece at the moment but that was cancelled by Tui. Got our money back and we have rebooked the same holiday for next year.
