What happens if you cancel a flight?

Booked to go away over christmas and dd18 has just got a job and doesn't want to come. Flights are with easyjet, if I notify them one of the party isn't coming do we just lose the money or do we have to pay a penalty too?

You just lose the money, no extra costs

You won't have to pay a penalty, they over sell on all flights. I'd do nothing, she may change her mind, if not she just doesn't turn up.

Agreed...keep it just in case her plans changes.

Cancelling now potentially releases the seat back into the airline's inventory, possibly allowing them another sale, but even so you won't get your money back...

With Easyjet you can get the airport tax back - usually about £13 each way. Or she could change to another flight with no switching costs - just any increase in fare.

You lose the money but you should be able to get taxes that you paid as part of the fee.
