Just fucking shut my thumb in the car door....fuck knows how!

There was much swearing!!

It hurts like fucking hell, has cuts on both sides and is swelling nicely.

I can move it, but not use it for anything that puts weight on ..... not sure if that means it's definitely not broken??

Have cleaned the cuts and held an ice pack on it but it's not really done anything.

I'm a fucking dick and it really hurts!!

Just wanted a whinge and maybe someone to tell me if I need to get it looked at!?

Can you move it and twist it properly both up and down and around

Its it misaligned

If its pink, moves normally and is straight, ice pain killers and reassess later today

If not, go to a minor injuries to check for tendon damage/broken bone/compromised blood flow

Its not straight, no.

Also its still mainly pink but the area around the cuts has gone kind of blueish, like a bruise.

I also can't bend it all the way to my palm as it's so stiff.

I really don't want to have to go get it seen to but obviously will if the consensus is I need to!!

I slammed my middle finger in a car door and split the tip open. They xrayed it, and I'd broken the end bone as well. Splint and lots of dressing changes for a couple of months.....

I'd advocate getting it looked at at Minor Injuries as they prescribed antibiotics to me because of the open wound near the broken bone.

You need an x ray, sounds like you may have chipped it. Definitely get it soon to

Wow ouch that sounds painful, glad you're going to get it looked at.

Definitely x-ray as you need a functioning thumb to grip and if you leave it this could be affected long term. Hope you get it sorted OP.

I did this. Got the tip of my finger and my nail gradually went black and then totally fell off. It was gross.

That was the extent of it though, yours sounds a bit more serious!

Oh yeah.... The worst part was the blood blister under the nail was agony, so the nurse drilled a hole to release the pressure. Faaaaaaarcking hell that hurt.
