Pictures of your children on social media?

Do you put photos of your children on social media? If not, what are your reasons?

I don't really because they're there forever and I think it should be the children's choice whether they want an online presence, along with the usual child protection issues etc.

However i end up wavering and wondering whether I'm being unreasonable and over cautious.

There's a mummy blogger in the family who has asked occasionally if she can put pics with my child in on her blog page. I haven't said no yet but I'm not thrilled with the idea.

We have only put a baby picture as a 'birth announcement' (large and far flung families) and DH posted one of eldest child in a sling as a baby with a witty comment about multitasking. I'd rather not put anything else up.

What do you do? What are your reasons? Do you have 'ground rules' for them?

My DH is v private on social media (as in doesn't have any and doesn't allow photos of himself to be posted), whereas I'm not, at all, and post lots. Before our DC were born we sat down and had a big chat about his comfort levels and figured out a bunch of ground rules. No full names, no faces, no stories or embarrassing pics. I'm a little sad i don't get to show off how beautiful my babies are, but his comfort is more important and he does have a point about choice and privacy!

I have some pictures of ds but nothing that anyone would ever consider embarrassing. He will never be able to make a choice himself and I will have to make far bigger choices than that for him for the rest of his life. My social media is locked down anyway so you wouldn't know where I lived etc.
