We arranged for a small extension/conservatory in Feb due to be completed March/April. Obviously that was pushed back but work has now been ongoing fro two weeks.

I'm so sick of the noise and mess, I know it will be worth it but it's so frustrating. I think it's worse because I'm wfh exclusively so there's no respite.

To be fair the delays so far have been weather or Covid related. Not really the builders fault and they're polite etc and try to stay out of the way but I'm just so sick of noise mess and dust.

Please someone who's been there before re assure me it's worth it, I think I'm feeling more on edge about it all because my husbands business was hit hard by my Covid and money is a little tighter. We probably would have waited but couldn't afford to forfeit deposit etc

I can only sympathise as we are in a similar position having started our extension in february and now finally at plastering. We thought it would all be done by June. It is so wearing having to deal with builders all the time however nice they are.

There are lots of us in a similar position on the following thread if you would like to join for some mutual support.

Oh thank you @weepingwillow22 I will check out that thread!! I know it's a first world problem so I almost feel bad complaining but it really is relentless. I've just been informed we need to wait for some specialist floor joists or something so it's on hold for two weeks as nothing can progress without them.

Two weeks delay but two weeks peace? I'll take that deal j guess Smile

100% sympathy here. We started a big building project back at the end of June and it only finished a couple of weeks ago.

All of us were WFH, plus three kids homeschooling for part of it and then on summer holidays. Chuck in a heatwave for part of it and I nearly lost my mind.

I just had to keep telling myself that I signed up for this. I put in a lot of time and effort and money to make it happen, so to start moaning about it after I’d got what I wanted would be a bit brattish. Also, it really is such a first world problem.

Anyway it was worth it because the house looks amazing now. I’m sitting in my new kitchen drinking coffee and it’s so nice.

We started our building works in January and now nearly September, it's still not finished. We had issues with getting hold of items during lockdown. It's nearly finished but it has drained us out of pocket.
