how to get out of my head and back into real life

I'm finding life really dull at the moment. This is partly due to lockdown, partly just my nature. how can I stop all the self interest? For example, I spend a lot of time thinking about is my house and things that need improving (it's a lovely house so this is so unnecessary), and reading up on skincare and nutrition and stuff. I wish I could care a bit less about myself and actually start enjoying life.

I've already thought I will stop buying magazines and try to stay off social media / my phone

Any other ideas? or a good book?

Thanks

Are you meeting people in real life? That really helps, I find.

Perhaps have the radio on? Radio 4 will give you an insight into the wider world and expand your horizons.

Perhaps start with some Desert Island Discs: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00zwlh8

Do one new thing every day. It doesn’t have to be major. Like bake a new recipe or walk somewhere different, or read a book about something you don’t know much about. I’m a sloth by nature, but this keeps me moving!

I don't think there's 's anything wrong with home or self improvement - it usually means I'm in a good place- motivated and enthusiastic for change. Maybe try to harness that to effect a different kind of change if you're feeling a bit stagnant. Learn piano or tennis or join a zoom book group or volunteer at a hospital or charity shop? Career invigoration - new course?
