I can’t stop feeling anxious that I ate without washing my hands.

Took DD for a McDonald’s this afternoon. I ordered our food using the touchscreen ordering system.

I did use hand sanitiser that they had sitting out, but I just completely forgot to wash my hands properly with water and soap in the bathrooms before I ate my food.

I know I’m being so stupid, but I can’t stop feeling anxious that I’m going to get coronavirus or another illness because I had touched the door handles and used the touchscreen and then ate without properly washing washing my hands.

Am i just overreacting?

This is the kind of thing I worry about too OP. I suffer with anxiety relating to health/contamination. Those people telling you to get a grip etc need to appreciate how lucky they are not to worry about stuff like this. It's not as simple as to just 'forget about it'. It seems that mental health issues are still belittled no matter how much they are talked about now.

I'm sure you will be absolutely fine though OP.

@TheSunIsStillShining

I work for them. It's company policy which means every store should be doing it.

I know deep down I’m just being silly. It’s just because I know that some people people don’t wash their hands after sneezing coughing / going to the toilet and some people are just downright dirty and god knows where some of those fingers and hands have been.

It just made me worry that I was then touching my food and then eating it with
God knows what germs on it. I think I’m just worried about This coronavirus too much

Hand sanitiser used on clean (i.e not visibly dirty) hands is just as effective as washing with soap. I'm sorry about the unkind comments you've got here, OP. I have emetophobia so I am well aware of how these little things eat away at you when you're already anxious.
