I’m watching the fall and have a question about crime scenes

The pictures that they take of crime scenes-with the victims in exactly the positions they were found in. Is that just for tv? Do paramedics have to try to resuscitate victims even if it’s obvious to them that they’ve been dead a while?

Sorry for the gory question!

If it’s a murder and the person is definitely dead then the photographs are taken as the position of the body can be useful. Paramedics will big try to resuscitate a dead body. If they resuscitate with cpr it is only if the person has suddenly gone into arrest and they have a chance of ‘jump-starting’ them

From memory of the Fall - the victims had been dead for a number of hours. The bodies would be cold and rigor mortis would have started. So clear that they were definitely dead.

where have you found the Fall - I missed the third series and would love to see it.

I absolutely loved The Fall, if that's the right word. Stella Gibson is one of my favourite TV characters - I want to be her when I grow up Grin

It is now on both Netflix AND on Amazon Prime.

I am watching it on Netflix, and am at that awful point where I want to know what happens next, but I'm on series 3 and don't want it to end!!

If life clearly extinct, then paramedics will not touch the body.

If there is any chance that the person is alive, then paramedics will do whatever they think necessary to save that life. If they are not sure, they will act as if there was the chance the person can be saved.

If police already there, they'll take as many pix as they can, but give way to the paramedics. Life always comes ahead of everything else.

In law, only certain people can certify death. In practice experienced first responders (and quite a swathe of the public at large) can tell when a corpse is clearly dead (changes over time, extent of injury incompatible with life)
