Does anybody else feel absolutely crap just before their period or for the first day or two of it starting?

I almost feel ill but don't have a bug. This happens semi regularly at this time of the month.

I'm due on today and have the annoying cramps but along with those I just feel very ran down, 'fluey' and a bit anxious.

I stay away from Dr Google so I don't know if this is a common thing Grin

Anybody else?

I get really tired and very grumpy a day or 2 before it starts.

Doihavetogotoworkdotcom1 · 23/08/2020 14:19

And definitely feel very anxious

magicstar1 · 23/08/2020 14:22

Yep. I get a bit crappy and feel like I have a urinary infection the day before. I get very achy too...just general pains all over just before.

...do you live in a cave with no connection to the world? This is a widely known about and experienced thing.

QuestionableMouse · 23/08/2020 14:24

Not unusual for me to feel crappy.

If I was aware it was so common I wouldn't be asking would I?

I do and have found the worse my lifestyle the worse it gets.

sitckmansladylove · 23/08/2020 14:47

Yep it is horrible since I turned 40 it had become worse. Coupled with an upset tummy and my find tampax doesn't even work as well (wtf!!)

ATowelAndAPotato · 23/08/2020 14:48

It is normal, as are a wide range of symptoms, and probably a few women who feel they don’t have any symptoms.
You might find keeping a mood/symptom tracker for a few months useful, as then you can get a better understanding of how your symptoms change throughout your cycle.

Lostinbooksandcoffee · 23/08/2020 14:51

Yep. I always feel very run down, so tired I can barely function, aches and pains on top of cramps, concentration levels affected, struggle with bowel movements, etc.
It's been worse since my daughter was born (she's 15m).

LoverOfIndoorplants · 23/08/2020 14:53

Thanks all, sorry to hear you suffer too!

I'll look into getting a mood/symptom tracker as suggested.

I've got a strange taste in my mouth too which I've noticed during the past few cycles. Hormones suck.

Yes I used to. Starting taking evening primrose oil 1000mg a day and no PMS at all for me now, plus my skin looks amazing and my hair and nails grow so fast! Give it a try!

MrsWhites · 23/08/2020 14:54

Yep me, happening right now. No energy, aches and pains, low level headache, moody, lethargic, bowel problems, anxious and just generally a bitch!

minnie465 · 23/08/2020 14:57

Yes!! I swear it's got worse since I had a baby 2.5 years ago. I actually feel pregnant some months. might give evening primrose oil a try as suggested by PP, thanks

LoverOfIndoorplants · 23/08/2020 15:05

I'll definitely be trying evening primrose oil too, thanks! Smile

It has also got worse for me since having my youngest 16 months ago.

I have never suffered with my periods prior to having her

Yes mine too after having my twins, they are 6 now so it didn't get better. Started EPO one year ago and it completly transformed by crazy hormones. Finally felt normal again. You're welcome! I order mine on Ebay - vegetarian capsules - 90 in a box for 8.99 - so lasts 3 months.

Crinkle77 · 23/08/2020 16:00

I get very tired away or two before and pee for England. I was on the pill for 23 years and came off it a couple of years ago cos the docs said she to my age and that I smoke then I should. Loved being on the pill cos my periods were lighter and didn't have as many pmt type symptoms.

Phillycheesesteak · 02/09/2020 07:06

I look 5 months pregnant pre period. I take aquaban to get rid of the excess water and it does work. I also get weird leg pains apparently the ovaries have pathways down your legs so that's why

MawnyStannit · 02/09/2020 07:15

Have you never heard of PMT or PMS? If you google them you’ll have a wider understanding of why you feel so awful.

BanditsBum · 02/09/2020 07:37

Yes I get headaches and joint pain, also get terrible anxiety and become convinced that family/friends/colleagues all hate me.

Always back to normal the second that I actually start bleeding it is like a switch being flipped.

Started 4 years ago after my second baby.

vanillandhoney · 02/09/2020 08:04

Me!

I'm due in two days - I'm exhausted even though I slept eight hours last night. I have cramps, I'm bloated, I'm grumpy and I have a dodgy stomach Hmm

I have dysmenorrhea though (diagnosed was a teenager) so I've always struggled with my periods. It sucks Angry
