How do you snap out of a bad mood?

I'm in a shit mood. Locked down for most of the year with 2 preschoolers, skint, useless ex DP, difficult elderly parent and stress, tiredness and boredom has given me the right arse hole. I need a day at the beach on my own, a yoga class, massage, bottle of wine and a shag in that order. Unfortunately I can only tick the wine off that list.

How do you stop feeling grumpy? Or if you'd like to join me in a moan thats good too.

Wish I knew my teen is in a hell of a mood today. Even when I ask a normal question she addresses me with the f word!

Wine, and Chaka Khan.

Could you make it wine, pizza, chocolate and a late night at home (drunken?!) yoga sesh after DC go to bed?

Go for a run

Purpleice · 20/08/2020 16:11

Get out of the house. Put loud music on. Have a shower.

I had this yesterday and didn’t know where to put my self. I realised I was really anxious about something and managed to calm down once I’d spoken to the person it related to.
Also today is a new day.
Feel your pain.

I thought I read on MN that you give your head a wobble.

Or is that for something different?

Spandang · 20/08/2020 16:15

Walk or run by the water with loud music. Fresh air and music works every time.

Thebreadsouth · 20/08/2020 16:21

No childcare, so no running unfortunately.

The dc wanted cake so we got ambitious and made a rainbow cake that's turned out well. I've opened the wine so life is looking good again Grin

@WhoWouldHaveThoughtThat I think that's for when someone's being unreasonable? Happy to be corrected though.

I make myself act as grumpy as possible, to the point where it gets ridiculous and I end up just having to laugh at myself. I live on my own though, so there’s no impact on anyone else. Trying to cheer yourself up out of a shit mood is hard, but for me at least it’s possible to really revel in it and slingshot yourself out the other side! Put some shouty music on, make cross faces at yourself in the mirror, and stomp about like a constipated dinosaur. Get the kids to join in?

Bit of yoga breathing even if you can't do a whole class. That said, there are lots of free online yoga (Yoga with Adriene etc) which go from about 10 mins to 1h+ depending on how long (or not) you've got.

I second being ludicrously grumpy until it's stupid!
