Independent book sellers..,

Does anyone actually buy from individuals selling the likes of Usborne books?

I've seen lots of people advertising their little mini-businesses on Facebook etc, but it doesn't look like they get many sales.

Is it just another home-selling fad where no one actually makes any money? (Except the big publisher).

I have. Towards the start of lock down I bought a few books off a woman who had posted on Facebook, it was when we were going nowhere and she was offering contact less payment and delivering to our door so it seemed like a pretty good deal. The books weren't especially cheap but they are lovely.

It’s an MLM unfortunately, which is a shame. I like Usborne’s books but I find MLMs unethical.

I buy from a variety of places. Last year I made a vow to not buy on amazon and bought various children's books and some novels at our local indy (I love second hand, charity and I'm prone to the odd supermarket deal). However, since the easing of lockdown, they have put a barrier at the entrance and I can no longer browse. This means I will no longer buy from them as this is their chief advantage over online.

That's what I suspected @Zhampagne . Usborne books are lovely but I can't quite get my head around how they expect individuals to be able to sell them at higher prices than to can pay for the same thing in the supermarket etc.

Would love to have a little project to earn some extra money but everything just looks like a big scam, with no real earning potential.
