Help finding a book about having a sense of self

I'm a bit embarrassed asking but could anyone recommend a good book that would help with figuring out "true self". Which I know sounds a bit pretentious and self absorbed.
But due to childhood emotional trauma I've always been a bit of a chameleon and a dreadful people please in order to feel accepted. I am now middle aged and realising that I've lost track of who I am along the way, or perhaps I've not defined who I am.
Any book recommendations would be gratefully received.
I've had a look on Amazon but would prefer any recommendations from here. Thank you

Louise Hay books might help.
Have a think back to childhood, what did you like, what did you like to do, and give them a go as hobbies. It's hard to know what might make you happy if you always were either helping others or worrying what others thought of you. You have to learn to be selfish.

Finding Your Own North Star by Martha Beck.

The Joy Diet by Martha Beck.

The Road Less Travelled by M. Scott Peck.

I found these very helpful. Good luck.

Thank you for your great ideas and the book suggestions - I'm going to have a look at them tonight and hopefully purchase a few of them. It's really appreciated as I hadn't a clue where to start.
@Nefelibate86 - I thought it would just be me who had lost/never had a sense of self, hopefully some of the books will be good for you too.

Coming on to add my voice to recommending finding your own North Star it’s a brilliant book.
