High school boys - dry feet

Our high school lets the kids wear trainers, which is great as my dc like to play football at break times, but they must be black.

Both dc are in men's sized shoes and are wearing black nike trainers but have come home the last few days with wet socks. The need something more strudy and weather proof!

What do your teen boys wear so they can play football at break but don't get wet feet in the rain on the way home? I feel like I've missed this bit of vital parenting info!

One of mine wears Sealskinz waterproof socks on rainy days, the other genuinely doesn't seem to care if his feet are wet. I care, but I honestly don't think he does.

My youngest gets sore feet - a bit like trench foot I guess- if his feet get wet on the way in so he is the one that is asking for new shoes. We are in Scotland and it's been a bit of a wet start to school so far. To be fair they are wearing their 'summer' (as if!) trainers I bought earlier this year.

I've never even heard of waterproof socks - that's a bit of a revelation!

Could he try Goretex? When my DS's high school goes back all changing rooms will be shut so he will have to wear his PE kit all day on PE days including walking to and from school (about 30 mins each way) his usual trainers wouldn't be great in wet cold weather as they are mostly mesh and very lightweight. A friend is passing on a pair of Goretex trainers/trail shoes which I hope DS will at least try. Goretex should be much more waterproof.

Airforce 1s should do the job?
