Please inspire me with your after-school suppers!

My DS is starting Reception in September so I'm trying to get organised and draw up some meal plans for suppertime. I've heard that DCs are ravenous when they get home from school and have a list of snack options but what about the evening meal?

Essentially, I need you to please inspire me with suppers that can be easily and quickly thrown together on a weeknight. Think those times when you're absolutely shattered after a day at work and you're trying to squeeze a meal in before bath time. Currently DS eats a hearty and healthy tea at preschool but when he comes home its normally a sandwich, yogurt and a cup of milk. I need to be a bit more adventurous so he goes to bed happy and full! My DM was a SAHM so we always had home cooked meals after school, but obviously on my three working days, this is going to be a bit tricky...

Obviously I will be doing as much regular batch cooking as I can and keeping the freezer stocked, but if anyone has any good ideas I could pinch for quick meals I'd be so incredibly grateful! Thank you!

My children had hot school lunches, a snack with their childminder and then a hot dinner at home. One favourite was cottage pie with sweet potato mash on top. They also liked pad Thai, which was quick to make or home made wedges with salmon and broccoli- again quick and in the oven. Tuna pasta bake was always in the freezer, or a veggie pasta bake.
