Yep. I do it all the time

Yes - just remember that if you're going to put it from the fridge into the oven it takes quite a bit longer (nearly twice as long, in my experience) to cook through as if you were taking the warm ingredients and going straight to the cooking stage. I'd also make the sauce slightly wetter than normal as the pasta will absorb more of it.

gchalix · 17/08/2020 20:49

@Hardbackwriter Ah I see. I usually stick it in the oven for 45 minutes.. so 90 minutes? Seems a while for a pasta bake

Undercook the pasta, because it will be absorbing liquid for ages.

PickAChew · 17/08/2020 20:55

If it's in a glass or ceramic fish you could warm it in the microwave for a while prior to putting it in the oven.

Also, unless it's very deep, 90 minutes would cremate it!

Hardbackwriter · 17/08/2020 20:55

Oh, 45 mins is longer than I'd thought (I normally just put mine in for 25 to crisp the top and get it lovely and bubbling) - in that case I wouldn't say double but maybe an hour? Check it after 45 mins in case I'm wrong but I've been caught out before waiting impatiently for something that was fridge cold to cook!

@pastapestoparmesan I've just put the pasta in some lukewarm water in a pan, not even going to cook it! Hopefully it turns out okay
