Anyone doing keto diet want to share food ideas and keep each other going?

I've just started today, had plenty Spinach, cheese, chicken. Finding it quite filling so far and hopefully sustainable!!
Not wanting to loose a massive amount of weight just de-bloat and feel more energised really. Im a terrible sweet treat snacker! And I always get an afternoon dip when I end up making a coffee and having biscuits or cake to give me a boost! Was desperately needing a diet change
Would be interested to hear any good meal ideas if anyone else is doing it

How long till you started seeing/feeling results? Normal diets are 3-4 weeks but am I right and thinking this is faster?

I follow Dr Boz on YouTube - she has some great videos for beginners and explains the ketostix stuff.

Berries and cream

Chicken bacon and avacado salad

Roast pork with buttered green veg.

Pizza made with flat mushroom base cheese and pepperoni

Steak egg and mushrooms with green veg.

Ribs and coleslaw.

Just a few of the things I have.

Mushroom base pizza sounds great, pizza is one of the things I'll miss the most!

@LirBan

Did the cake have sweetener?
No sweetener - the sweetness comes from the chocolate, so I used half of it 70% cocoa and the other half was regular plain choc (so probably about 45% and a bit more sugar). I put some vanilla extract in whipped double cream to go with it, and had a couple of strawberries on the side - worked out about 15-20g per portion of carbs, so not as low as you’d want it to be if you’re keeping under 20g but if you’re aiming for 40-50g total, it’s a great snack!

So bloated and constipated (sorry!!)
Day 2
Hope it passes soon.....
Ordered some keto goodies from amazon as I'm likely to fall off the wagon of I don't have my sweet treats

Oh no. That’s not good OP. The first few days are always the worst!

I very stupidly fell off my fast today by nevking some blackberries whilst picking them with the children. I slid it so unconsciously that I only clocked what I’d done half an hour later when I felt unusually hungry. What a plonker!

Massively up your water intake - you really need it in the early days!

Watch the keto sweets for diarrhoea risk, too - too many can have a bad, bad effect. Try dark chocolate maybe?

Louise000000 · 18/08/2020 19:08

Drinking 2.5 litres of water
I had dark chocolate but I don't think it's the good kind as its not the very bitter stuff.
I'm stuffed after today's food tho

Do you calorie count aswell or does it not matter so much with keto?

Do you have electrolytes to add to your water? Or at least salt? Makes a huge difference.

Louise000000 · 18/08/2020 20:27

Really? Will give that a go!

I don't think you need to calorie count, when I first did strict keto a few years back I weighed things and carb counted them as I didn't have a clue on what was in veg etc, but to me the advantage of low carb is that you don't need to worry about calories. Your appetite gradually reduces.

Try even more water / fluids and see if that helps. Or lots of things like celery, cucumber to help.
The beauty of it is you don't need to be hungry and feel deprived! Celery and peanut butter or salted nuts hit my 'treat' spot.

Some people suggest zero carb jelly powder made up with cream cheese and set in fridge is a good mousse like desert (it's not veggie so can't do that one sadly) - but I think sweet stuff too early sometimes makes it harder to make the switch as your brain expects the hit. Who knows though!

Day 5 here and feeling really good. So much less hungry.
My period came this morning which explains the bloating and constipation!! All gone now.
I'm down 3lbs since Monday morning so water weight is coming off! Looking forward to next few weeks and feeling even better!

Smoked salmon wrapped smeared with cream cheese and wrapped around a cornichon or slivered dill pickle. (Check sugar content as they vary hugely, and frankly the sour ones are the best!)

Cheesey scrambled eggs, greek yoghurt and berries with nibbled almonds or I fast until lunchtime. Lunch is normally a handful of nuts, olives some deli meat and cheese, or I'll make a soup like spicy butternut squash. Dinner is normally meat and salad or veg, but I'm trying to reduce my meat intake a bit so I've made portobello mushroom pizzas, which were great. Have got prawn and chilli pasta tonight using the black bean spaghetti from Aldi.
