What happens to the students whose grades were increased from their CAG?

There must be quite a few of them - predicted a C but awarded a B.

Are they now downgraded?

Come to think of it, what of students who take A-levels in 2021, 2022, 2023, completing in the job market in a few years' time against the class of 2020?

No one could ever be entirely happy with a particular decision, could they?

I think it is only 2% awarded higher than CAG. My understanding is that they keep the higher grade.

As I understand it, there is no downgrading, just re-grading students who were given unfairly low grades. Future students will probably just be grateful not to have gone through the awful time that this cohort have had in their final year of school. At least they will have Prom, leavers aassembly/awards, 18th birthday parties, driving lessons, travel the world etc, and not have to go through the heartbreak of a shambolic results day and lost places at Uni.

I'm not sure my yr 12s feel particularly as though they are so much more fortunate than the year 13s. Yes, this has been a shambles, but it is the yr 12s who have experienced many of the same things and also missed actual teaching time at school, and will next year be competing against the year 13s for university places.

Most teachers in my experience think this will have a worse impact on yr 10s and 12s than yr 11s and 13s, even with the nonsense that has been the last few days.

Thank you, Jasmin. I feel sorry for the lot of them! Just read a thread about Uni Students having their year abroad to study languages cancelled. This virus has been really hard on the youngsters, and I hope they soon get their normal lives back.

I think missing six months of face to face teaching and then stressing about the threat of further lockdowns , does not make the current year twelves grateful at all .They are now at a great disadvantage and will have to go through the stress of exams next summer with great gaps in their knowledge as will the current year tens .
I'm not saying that I'm unsympathetic towards the current year 11's and 13's I feel for them , but we really need to spare a thought for the thousands of secondary school students who have missed so much teaching . We have to remember that there seems to be a vast difference in how schools have handled their closures , some students will have had full lessons while others will have had very limited contact , so there will be a large disparity in results across the country in future years to come for quite some time .
