If you had an airing cupboard full of odd socks........

what would you do with them? Asking for a friend obviously Grin there are hundreds of the bloody things!

Most of them don't fit any more or don't have a second sock to match to. It seems really wasteful to throw them away but equally I am decluttering my house and want them gone. Can I put them in the fabric recycling banks?

I've just put out a fabric recycling bag which was half full of odd socks !
They get picked up by the council here as part of the normal weekly rubbish and recycling collection

Wear odd socks? This is what my teenage ds does Grin

WanderingMilly · 17/08/2020 13:59

Put them out for recycling. If you don't use them, why are you keeping them?

JustCallMeGriffin · 17/08/2020 14:04

I donate as "rags" to the big giant bins in the supermarket car park. Our council doesn't pick up clothes for recycling.

ChateauMargaux · 17/08/2020 14:04

Fabric recycling bin!! Don't worry about feeling wasteful, the waste happened when you bought them or they have already had their useful life so it's not waste but just clearing out.

We just cleared out our garage, it was difficult to just throw things away but it had to be done. We are frugal and we do try to pass on / reuse but time comes when moving around the clutter is more exhausting than the effort saved by keeping things for the day they will come in handy.

What else have you got to fling?

ApocalypseNowt · 17/08/2020 14:07

Sock bunnies? Grin

safariboot · 17/08/2020 14:08

Bin.

Or send/take to rags if you want. But if you're decluttering, and you're at the point where you seriously need to, then the most important thing is to get the stuff OUT. Not throwing stuff away because you don't want to "waste" it is practically the definition of hoarding.

Are you sure they're all odd? Has everyone checked their sock drawers? We have a "socks reunited" session every few months. It's surprising how many pairs you can make up again ☺️

AdaColeman · 17/08/2020 14:17

Make into quick face masks, look on Yoo Tube for how to do it.

Sew some button eyes on them to make puppets, and sell at the school fair.

Use as dusters, polishers.

HowayPet · 17/08/2020 14:47

I’d wear them, I can’t remember when I last wore a matching pair. The way I see it is I have two feet so I need two socks.....sorted!

Also saves pairing them up after washing and get extra wear if one has a hole and has to be chucked.😁
